Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Supervision and Team Management

: Lead, supervise, and manage a team of gardeners, technicians, and laborers to ensure efficient execution of landscape works. Provide training and guidance to the team on landscape maintenance techniques, safety procedures, and equipment handling. Prepare daily and weekly work schedules and assign tasks to team members.

Landscape Maintenance and Installation

: Oversee the daily maintenance of lawns, trees, shrubs, flowers, and other landscape elements. Ensure proper pruning, mowing, fertilization, irrigation, and pest control measures are taken. Supervise the installation and replacement of plants, hardscapes, and irrigation systems as needed. Monitor the health of plants and identify any issues such as disease or poor growth, and take appropriate action.

Irrigation and Water Management

: Oversee the operation and maintenance of irrigation systems. Ensure regular inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of irrigation lines and controllers. Adjust irrigation schedules based on weather, soil conditions, and water conservation goals.

Coordination and Communication

: Collaborate with the project manager and other departments to coordinate landscape activities with ongoing construction or other site operations. Communicate regularly with the client and address any landscape-related concerns or requests. Provide progress updates, daily reports, and site inspections.

Materials and Equipment Management

: Ensure the availability of required materials, plants, fertilizers, pesticides, and tools. Monitor and maintain inventory, order supplies, and manage the budget for landscape activities. Ensure the proper use and maintenance of landscape equipment and tools.

Health and Safety Compliance

: Ensure all landscaping activities comply with health and safety standards. Conduct regular safety meetings and enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) by the team. Identify potential hazards and take preventative measures to avoid accidents.

Record Keeping and Reporting

: Maintain detailed records of landscape maintenance schedules, plant health, irrigation schedules, and resource usage. Prepare and submit reports on landscape activities, including work progress, issues encountered, and solutions implemented.

Quality Control

: Ensure that all landscape work meets company standards and client expectations. Perform regular inspections to ensure quality of work and make necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.

Qualifications:

Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Landscape Management, or a related field. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in landscape maintenance and supervision. Strong knowledge of plants, soil types, fertilizers, pest control, and irrigation systems. Experience in managing landscape teams and coordinating with other departments. Proficiency in using landscape equipment and tools. Good communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Skills Required:

Knowledge of horticultural practices. Familiarity with irrigation system design and troubleshooting. Leadership and team management abilities. Proficiency in budgeting, scheduling, and reporting. Ability to perform physical tasks and work outdoors for extended periods. Basic computer skills (MS Office).
