Provide individualized breastfeeding counselling and education to new and expectant mothers
Assess and address breastfeeding challenges including latch difficulties, low milk suppy and infant weight gain issues
Offer guidance on proper breastfeeding techniques and positions
Clinical Assessment
Perform comprehensive lactation assessments to identify potential issues and develop care plan.
Monitor infants growth pattern and breastfeeding efficiency.
Evaluate and assist with the use of breastfeeding aids.
Education and Training
Educate parents and families on breastfeeding benefits, techniques and management.
Conduct breastfeeding classes and workshops for groups of expectant and new parents.
Provide training and resources to healthcare staff on current lactation practices and guidelines.
Support and counselling
-Offer emotional support and encouragement to mothers experiencing breastfeeding difficulties.Facilitate support groups for breastfeeding mothers to share experiences and solutions.
Provide follow up support as needed
Collaboration and rferrals
Work closely with the pediatricians, Obstetricians, nurses and other health care professionals to coordinate care.
Refer mothers to other healthcare providers or specialists when medical issues arise that affect breastfeeding.
Collaborate with hospital staff to ensure continuity of care upon discharge.
Documentation and Reporting
Maintain accurate records of consultations, assessments and care plans
Document mothers and infants progress and any interventions provided.
Prepare reports, KPI\'s, participate in case reviews

Conduct and coordinate Antenatal classes. (individual and group sessions)

Qualifications:
International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
Registered Midwife or Nurse with relevant licensure
Experience with Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative standards
Breast feeding clinical experience
BLS certification
Certificate in Adult Teaching preferably
Professional knowledge of the breastfeeding process, antepartum,
intrapartum and postpartum health care and psychosocial issues
Knowledge of the breastfeeding care and educational principles, practices,
procedures, and techniques needed to assist breastfeeding families
Knowledgeable and skilled in the physiology and clinical management of breastfeeding.
