Position Summary:

As the Laboratory Manager at Genex, you will oversee the daily operations of our laboratory facilities, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency in both molecular and microbiological research and testing. This role requires a strong background in both disciplines, along with exceptional leadership, organizational, and scientific skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Oversight:

Manage and supervise laboratory personnel, including scientists, technicians, and interns. Ensure team members are trained and equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge for their roles.

Operational Management:

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the laboratory, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standard operating procedures (SOPs). Develop and implement laboratory policies and procedures to enhance productivity and safety.

Project Management:

Coordinate and manage research projects in molecular biology and microbiology, ensuring timely completion and reporting. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project goals and integrate findings into broader company missions.

Quality Assurance:

Establish and maintain quality control protocols, ensuring data integrity and validation of results. Conduct regular audits and assessments of laboratory practices to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and accreditation requirements.

Resource Management:

Manage laboratory budgets, procurement, and inventory of supplies and equipment. Oversee the maintenance and calibration of laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure optimal performance.

Research and Development:

Contribute to the design and execution of experiments, providing expertise in both molecular and microbiological techniques. Analyze and interpret experimental data, preparing reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

Continuous Improvement:

Stay updated with advancements in molecular biology and microbiology, implementing relevant innovations within the laboratory. Foster a culture of continuous learning and development among laboratory staff.

Qualifications:

Education:

Master's degree or Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or a related field.

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of hands-on laboratory experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role. Proven expertise in molecular techniques (e.g., PCR, sequencing, cloning) and microbiological methods (e.g., culture, identification, antibiotic susceptibility testing).

Skills:

Strong leadership and team management abilities. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. Proficient in data analysis software and laboratory information management systems (LIMS). Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences.
