The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the American University in Dubai would like to invite qualified applicants to apply for the position of Laboratory Engineer - Computer Engineering. The fundamental responsibility of this position is to provide technical assistance and support to the engineering faculty and students, and to manage the electrical engineering and physics laboratories. Principle Responsibilities:
Ordering equipment and setting up new experiments in computer engineering labs;
Maintaining, organizing, and replenishing computer engineering lab supplies;
Assisting professors during lab sessions;
Assisting students with lab work outside the scheduled lab time;
Designing experiments based on technical requirements in areas such as embedded systems, digital logic
design, computer architecture, and networking;
Performing experimental demos and analyzing experimental data;
Monitoring students who use the computer engineering labs beyond the scheduled class times;
Maintaining a safe and functional laboratory environment;
Modifying and developing technical lab manuals, instruction sheets, and equipment-specific documents
for computer engineering labs;
Performing other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor or anyone acting in his or her capacity.

Strong technical command in more than one of the following fields:
Embedded Systems
Computer Networks and Cybersecurity
Digital Logic Design
Microprocessors and Microcontrollers
Machine Learning and AI
Programming Languages (VHDL, Verilog, C/C++, Python)
Computer Architecture
Competency in engineering software such as MATLAB, Simulink, Cadence, and Quartus
Organization and time management skills
Competency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Essential Qualifications:
BS in Electrical Engineering or a related field;
Familiarity with engineering equipment, procedures, and software;
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in engineering labs at universities, research institutes or other organizations;
MS degree and lab instruction experience;
Teaching experience in computer engineering courses such as digital logic, embedded systems, and
