Job Description

Job Summary:

The kitchen steward maintains cleanliness and organization within the kitchen, supports kitchen staff, and ensures that all kitchen equipment and utensils are clean and in good working condition.

Key Responsibilities:

Cleaning and Maintenance:

Wash and sanitize dishes, cookware, and utensils. Clean kitchen equipment, appliances, and work areas. Ensure proper waste disposal by emptying trash bins and recycling. Sweep and mop floors regularly to maintain cleanliness. Clean and sanitize sinks, countertops, and kitchen surfaces.

Support for Kitchen Operations:

Assist with the setup and breakdown of kitchen areas. Organize and store kitchen items appropriately. Replenish kitchen supplies and restock as needed. Assist with receiving and storing deliveries.

Compliance and Safety:

Follow all health and safety regulations. Adhere to food safety guidelines and proper sanitation practices. Report any maintenance or safety issues to the supervisor. Ensure all cleaning supplies are used safely and stored properly.

Team Collaboration:

Work closely with chefs and kitchen staff to ensure efficient kitchen operations. Assist in other duties as assigned by the head chef or kitchen manager. Participate in team meetings and training sessions.

Qualifications:

Basic understanding of kitchen sanitation and safety regulations. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Good communication and teamwork skills. Attention to detail and organizational skills.
