Job Title: Kitchen Steward Job Overview: We are seeking a diligent and reliable Kitchen Steward to join our team. The Kitchen Cleaner will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards in our kitchen area. This role involves organizing, washing dishes, utensils, and other kitchen equipment, as well as keeping the kitchen surfaces clean and sanitized. The Kitchen Cleaner will also assist in maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies and ensuring proper storage and disposal of waste materials. Responsibilities: - Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, including countertops, sinks, stovetops, and floors, to ensure a safe and hygienic environment - Wash and sterilize dishes, utensils, and other kitchen equipment efficiently and accurately - Collect and dispose of waste materials in appropriate bins, following necessary recycling procedures - Assist in maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies, notifying the supervisor when supplies need to be replenished - Maintain a clean and organized dishwashing area, ensuring all equipment is stored properly - Assist kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks, such as peeling vegetables or washing fruits, as and when necessary - Follow all safety and sanitation guidelines as set forth by the company and relevant regulatory agencies - Actively participate in training programs related to kitchen safety and sanitation practices - Inform management of any maintenance issues or concerns regarding kitchen equipment or facilities Requirements: - High school diploma or equivalent - Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in a restaurant or food service environment - Knowledge of proper sanitation and safety practices in a kitchen setting - Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and under strict deadlines - Must be physically fit and able to stand, bend, and lift heavy items (up to 25 lbs) for prolonged periods - Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills - Strong communication and interpersonal skills - Ability to follow instructions and work well within a team We offer competitive wages and benefits along with opportunities for growth and development in a dynamic work environment.
