Job Description

The Junior Estimation Engineer for Piling and Shoring Work will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of accurate and detailed cost estimates for various piling and shoring projects. This role involves the analysis of project specifications, drawings, and soil reports to determine the scope, resources, and costs associated with the work. The Junior Estimation Engineer will work under the guidance of senior estimation engineers and project managers to ensure all estimates are comprehensive and align with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Review and Analysis:

- Analyze project specifications, drawings, and soil reports.

- Identify the scope of work, including all necessary tasks, materials, and labor.

- Understand client requirements and project objectives.

2. Cost Estimation:

- Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates for piling and shoring projects.

- Calculate material, labor, and equipment costs.

- Use estimation software and tools to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

3. Data Collection and Research:

- Gather and compile data on various costs, including materials, labor rates, and equipment rentals.

- Research market prices and trends to support accurate cost estimates.

4. Collaboration and Communication:

- Work closely with senior estimation engineers and project managers to understand project requirements and constraints.

- Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement and construction, to gather necessary information.

5. Documentation and Reporting:

- Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of all estimates, including assumptions and calculations.

- Generate and present cost estimate reports to senior management and clients as required.

6. Quality Assurance:

- Ensure all estimates are thorough, accurate, and comply with industry standards and company procedures.

- Review and verify the accuracy of estimates prepared by others.

7. Project Support:

- Provide support during the project bidding process, including responding to client queries and clarifications.

- Assist in the preparation of tender documents and proposals.

Qualifications and Skills

- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in estimation or a related role, preferably in piling and shoring work.

- Basic knowledge of piling and shoring techniques, materials, and construction methods.

- Proficiency in estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project).

- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.

- Good understanding of construction drawings and specifications.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Additional Requirements

- Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and technologies.

- Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations related to construction work.

- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
