A Junior Engineer - Quantity Surveyor (QS) Electrical plays a vital role in managing the cost and materials for electrical aspects of a construction project. We are looking for an experienced Junior engineer / QS- electrical with following qualities:-
Junior Engineers / QS - Electrical: Duties & Responsibilities
1. Quantity Surveying and Cost Management
• Prepare accurate quantity take-offs for electrical works from drawings and specifications.
• Assist in preparing Bill of Quantities (BOQ) for electrical systems.
• Analyse and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations to ensure cost-effectiveness.
• Monitor and control costs during the project to ensure the budget is maintained.
2. Tendering and Procurement Support
• Assist in the preparation of tender documents for electrical works.
• Evaluate tender submissions and recommend the most cost-effective solutions.
• Support procurement by identifying and sourcing required materials and equipment.
• Maintain records of purchase orders and supplier contracts.
3. Measurement and Valuation
• Measure and value electrical works on-site to validate contractors' claims.
• Ensure accurate valuations for interim and final payments to subcontractors.
• Prepare and submit monthly progress claims and variations for electrical works.
4. Contract Administration
• Assist in the preparation and management of contracts for electrical works.
• Review and interpret contract documents to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
• Identify and report potential contract risks and disputes.
5. Coordination with Project Teams
• Collaborate with the project manager, site engineers, and design team to align project requirements.
• Provide regular updates on cost and material requirements to relevant stakeholders.
• Coordinate with electrical subcontractors to resolve discrepancies in drawings or quantities.
6. Cost Reporting
• Prepare and maintain cost reports for electrical elements of the project.
• Track changes to the project scope and update budgets accordingly.
• Provide input for financial forecasting and project cash flow analysis.
7. Quality and Compliance
• Ensure all electrical works are measured and executed in compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and local regulations.
• Assist in the inspection and verification of delivered materials and installed systems.
• 8. Documentation and Reporting
• Maintain accurate records of material deliveries, labor costs, and subcontractor progress.
• Prepare and submit regular reports on the financial status of electrical works.
• Maintain an organized database of electrical BOQs, cost estimates, and project documents.
9. Professional Development
• Stay updated with industry standards, codes, and regulations related to electrical systems.
• Develop knowledge of new technologies and methodologies in electrical quantity surveying and project management.
Key Skills Required
• Bachelor degree in relevant field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in similar Industry.
• Proficiency quantity surveying software like AutoCAD, Revit, CostX, or MS Excel.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills for accurate measurements and cost analysis.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities to coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
• Basic understanding of electrical systems and components (e.g., wiring, lighting, switchgear).
• Familiarity with local and international standards (e.g., NEC, IEC) and codes of practices.
