Job Title: Joinery Site Engineer

Job Summary:
The Joinery Site Engineer is responsible for overseeing and managing the on-site execution of joinery projects, ensuring that the installation of custom woodwork and joinery is carried out to high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. This role involves coordinating with site teams, contractors, and suppliers to ensure that work is completed according to project specifications, on time, and within budget. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in joinery and excellent problem-solving skills to manage on-site challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Site Supervision and Coordination:
• Supervise and coordinate the on-site installation of joinery products, ensuring that work aligns with project plans and specifications.
• Oversee the work of joinery craftsmen, subcontractors, and other site personnel to ensure quality workmanship.
• Conduct daily site inspections to monitor progress, check quality, and ensure compliance with project drawings and specifications.
2. Technical Oversight:
• Interpret architectural and joinery drawings to ensure correct implementation on-site.
• Provide technical guidance to the installation team and resolve any on-site technical issues that may arise.
• Ensure that all installations meet industry standards, client expectations, and project requirements.
3. Health and Safety Compliance:
• Ensure strict adherence to health and safety protocols on the construction site.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures for all joinery activities.
• Ensure all workers and subcontractors use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety guidelines.
4. Quality Control:
• Monitor the quality of materials and workmanship, ensuring that the finished product meets the company's high standards and client specifications.
• Conduct regular quality inspections throughout the installation process, addressing any defects or deviations from the plan.
• Implement corrective actions when necessary to address quality issues on-site.
5. Progress Tracking and Reporting:
• Track daily progress and ensure that the site work is progressing according to schedule.
• Provide regular updates to the Project Manager or Site Manager on work status, challenges, and any delays.
• Maintain accurate records of site activities, including daily reports, measurements, and progress photos.
6. Resource Management:
• Coordinate the delivery of materials, tools, and equipment to the site, ensuring they are available when needed.
• Work closely with the procurement team to avoid material shortages or delays.
• Monitor the usage of materials and manpower to minimize waste and control costs.
7. Client and Stakeholder Communication:
• Liaise with clients, architects, and consultants on-site to ensure their requirements are met.
• Attend site meetings with the client and project team to discuss progress, technical challenges, and any changes to the project scope.
• Ensure that any client concerns or issues are addressed promptly and professionally.
8. Problem-Solving and Issue Resolution:
• Identify and resolve any on-site issues related to joinery installation, including conflicts with other trades or unexpected site conditions.
• Work with the project team to develop solutions to technical problems, ensuring minimal disruption to the project timeline.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Wood Technology, Construction, or a related field.
• Knowledge of joinery techniques, materials, and construction methods.
• Certification in health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) is an advantage.
Skills:
• Strong understanding of joinery drawings, specifications, and installation techniques.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to handle technical challenges on-site.
• Good communication skills to effectively liaise with clients, subcontractors, and the project team.
• Knowledge of construction site safety regulations and best practices.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and technical specifications.
Experience:
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working as a site engineer or supervisor in joinery, woodworking, or construction.
• Proven experience managing the installation of custom joinery products in high-end residential, commercial, or hospitality projects.
• Experience with site coordination, quality control, and health and safety management.
