Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented

Joinery Production Estimator

to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for estimating the cost of production for joinery projects, including materials, labor, and overheads, while ensuring accuracy and adherence to budgets. The role requires a solid understanding of joinery processes, as well as the ability to work closely with production teams, suppliers, and clients to provide accurate and competitive estimates for projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Estimation:

Review project drawings, specifications, and requirements to prepare accurate cost estimates for joinery works. Estimate material quantities, labor hours, and other resources required for each project. Determine the total cost of a project, including materials, labor, overhead, and any subcontractor costs. Collaborate with design and production teams to ensure the feasibility and accuracy of estimates.

Supplier and Subcontractor Coordination:

Obtain quotes from suppliers and subcontractors for materials, finishes, and services. Negotiate pricing with suppliers to ensure the best value for the company and the client. Ensure that all suppliers meet required standards for quality and delivery.

Cost Control:

Monitor project costs throughout the production phase to ensure they stay within the original estimate and adjust as needed. Identify potential cost-saving opportunities or value engineering solutions to maintain or improve profitability. Track and report on variations in cost compared to the original estimate, providing explanations and recommendations for adjustments.

Documentation & Reporting:

Prepare detailed estimates, breakdowns, and reports for review by senior management and clients. Maintain accurate records of all estimating work, including revisions and correspondence with suppliers and clients. Ensure that all estimates are in line with company procedures and standards.

Client Interaction:

Communicate with clients to discuss and clarify project requirements, scope, and expectations. Provide clients with timely and accurate cost estimates for their projects. Address client queries regarding costs, project timelines, and feasibility.

Market Analysis:

Keep up to date with industry trends, material costs, and competitor pricing to ensure estimates are competitive and accurate. Review new products and materials to ensure the company stays at the forefront of the joinery industry.

Support Production & Project Management:

Work closely with the production and project management teams to ensure that the estimated cost and schedule align with project delivery. Provide ongoing support to production teams to ensure smooth implementation of the estimate into the production phase.

Requirements:

Education:

Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).

Experience:

Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Joinery Estimator or in a similar role, with a strong background in estimating joinery or woodworking projects.

Skills:

Strong understanding of joinery processes, materials, and production techniques. Proficient in using estimation software (e.g., CostX, Estimator, Excel). Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Strong organizational and time management abilities. Ability to analyze complex drawings and specifications. Knowledge of local market pricing and industry standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in the interior fit-out or construction industry. Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or other design software. Knowledge of cost control and value engineering techniques.
