We are seeking an experienced Joinery Estimator with 5-10 years of experience working in interior fit-out contracting or construction companies in the UAE. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estimating joinery works , including custom cabinetry, wooden partitions, doors, and other bespoke interior elements. The role requires expertise in estimating material and labor costs, preparing detailed cost estimates for joinery projects, and working closely with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
The Joinery Estimator will be responsible for reviewing project drawings, preparing detailed cost estimates for joinery work, and ensuring that the estimates align with the client's requirements, project budget, and specifications. The position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to provide accurate and competitive pricing in line with market standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Preparation of Joinery Estimates:
• Review project drawings, specifications, and project documentation to understand the scope of work for joinery elements.
• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for joinery works , including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Provide cost breakdowns for wooden partitions , doors , furniture , cabinets , and other custom joinery elements based on project requirements.
• Work closely with project managers, designers, and engineers to ensure the accuracy of the estimates and alignment with design intent.
• Material Take-Off and Quantity Surveying:
• Conduct material take-offs from drawings and specifications , ensuring all joinery elements are included.
• Quantify and list all materials required for the project, including timber, veneers, hardware, finishes, and other components.
• Estimate and allocate labor hours for carpentry and joinery work, including assembly, finishing, and installation.
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain material quotes and labor rates.
• Costing and Tendering:
• Prepare and submit tender bids for joinery work, ensuring compliance with client specifications, timelines, and budget.
• Assist in preparing comprehensive tender documents that include pricing, technical clarifications, and relevant project details.
• Coordinate with project teams and clients to clarify any queries related to pricing or scope.
• Ensure estimates are competitive while maintaining profitability for the company.
• Project Coordination & Communication:
• Work closely with designers, architects, and engineers to clarify design and material requirements for joinery items.
• Liaise with procurement teams to ensure timely acquisition of materials based on the final estimates.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers for pricing and to discuss the availability of specific materials or custom items.
• Assist project managers in monitoring the progress of the project, comparing actual costs to estimated costs, and making adjustments as necessary.
• Cost Control & Budgeting:
• Monitor project budgets and costs throughout the project lifecycle, comparing actual costs with initial estimates.
• Identify potential cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or design specifications.
• Assist the project team in managing changes and variations to the initial joinery scope, providing updated cost estimates where required.
• Risk Assessment & Value Engineering:
• Evaluate potential risks associated with joinery works, such as material shortages, labor availability, and project scheduling issues.
• Provide value engineering solutions that reduce costs while maintaining the integrity of the design.
• Suggest alternative materials or construction methods that can achieve cost savings without affecting quality or functionality.
• Documentation & Reporting:
• Maintain accurate records of all estimates, cost breakdowns, and tender submissions.
• Provide detailed reports and regular updates to senior management regarding the status of ongoing estimates, tenders, and projects.
• Assist in preparing as-built drawings and final documentation for completed projects.
• Market Research:
• Keep up to date with the latest trends and material costs in the joinery industry to ensure that estimates are based on current market rates.
• Conduct regular research into suppliers, subcontractors, and alternative materials to ensure competitive pricing for all joinery work.
Qualifications & Skills:
• Experience:
• 5-10 years of hands-on experience as a Joinery Estimator within an interior fit-out contracting or construction company in the UAE.
• Strong experience in estimating costs for joinery works , including custom woodwork, cabinetry, partitions, and other interior joinery elements.
• Education & Certifications:
• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management , Quantity Surveying , Interior Design , Civil Engineering , or a related field.
• Relevant certifications in estimating , cost management , or quantity surveying (e.g., RICS , AACEI , or similar qualifications) are highly desirable.
• Skills & Expertise:
• In-depth knowledge of joinery works including materials, design, finishes, and construction methods.
• Proficient in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam , ProEst , CostX , or similar tools).
• Strong understanding of construction drawings , specifications , and quantity take-offs .
• Excellent skills in cost estimation , budgeting , and tendering for joinery-related projects.
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure timely and accurate estimates.
• Knowledge of UAE construction codes and industry standards related to joinery works.
• Language Skills:
• Proficiency in English (both written and spoken). Knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
• Other Requirements:
• Valid UAE driving license is preferred for site visits and coordinating with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects at once.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Pay: AED7,000.00 - AED12,000.00 per month
