Winch Operator
Job Description
1.To select loads or materials according to weight, tonnage and size specifications and operate winches for loading and unloading cargo.
2.To operate winch on the vessel in the correct and safest manner
3.To operate winch with proper care and handling of cargo to avoid accident and damage to the cargo.
4.To ensure the winch does not exceed the safe working capacity of the vessel equipment.
5.To signal and assist other workers during loading and unloading cargo in a safe manner.
6.To observe equipment gauges and indicators and hand signals of other workers in order to verify load positions and depths
7.To assist port handling and stevedoring therefore contributing to the smooth functioning of port operations.
