Jumeirah English Speaking School (JESS) has a vacancy open for an experienced IT Support Technician in Dubai.
Branch: Arabian Ranches

Working hours: 7:15 am to 3.30 pm Monday to Thursday | 7:15 am to 12:15 pm Friday

Holiday Entitlement: 45 Calendar Days to be taken during the school holidays which are published annually (The role will require the holder to be flexible when booking holidays to ensure cover is provided within the IT Support team).

Reporting to: IT Support Manager



Job Scope:


The IT Support Technician will work as part of the IT Support team. The IT Support team are responsible for providing day to day support to all stakeholders in the school community; staff, students and parents across the Jumeirah and Arabian Ranches campuses. He/She should always conduct themselves in an appropriate professional manner to support and foster the aims and Core Values of JESS.



Safeguarding Statement



Safeguarding is everybody's responsibility. All staff working at JESS will have some contact with children and young people and will therefore be in a position of trust. Staff with teaching duties will be responsible for the students that they teach and may also have additional specific pastoral or other responsibilities for other students they do not teach. In addition, all staff will regularly interact with students who may seek assistance or otherwise interact with them whilst moving around the school. In all cases, staff have the responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of the students and must adhere to and always ensure compliance with the school's Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy and procedures to include whistleblowing and ensure all concerns are immediately passed on to the school's Designated Safeguarding Officer(s) (DSO).



Main Tasks and Duties



This not an exhaustive list of duties/responsibilities that the IT Support Technician will carry out but is illustrative of the general nature and level of responsibility of the role. The postholder may be required to do other duties appropriate to the level of the role, as directed by the Department Head. The responsibilities outlined may be modified by the Department Head, upon mutual agreement, to reflect or anticipate changes in the role:


• Regular self-assignment of calls from the helpdesk and updating of the same.
• Classroom support for operation of computers, peripherals and software across the network.
• Provide advice and guidance on the use of IT systems.
• To adopt a pro-active approach to dealing with calls & to complete system critical calls before leaving for the day.
• Working continuously on a task until completion or referral to 2nd line.
• To diagnose and resolve software and hardware incidents, including OS (Windows & MAC) and software applications.
• MDM App deployment for both Windows and Apple devices.
• Ensure IT inventories are kept up to date.
• Give support and training on all IT related accessories.
• Preventive maintenance of all ICT equipment: oversee the cleaning internal and external areas of computers, projectors interactive screen etc.
• AV Support, setting up equipment's for presentation & events.
• Document the setup and configuration of all school IT systems and ensure operating procedures are in place.
• Advise on system enhancements and make recommendations for improvements or replacements.
• Ensure IT documentation is kept up to date and record any changes to IT systems.
• Assist in the selection, testing and acquisition of computer hardware, software and third-party application packages.
• Ensure school policies and procedures are followed to maintain fully operational, robust and secure IT systems.
• Administer effective frontline helpdesk assistance
• Create good working relationship amongst members of the help desk team to ensure smooth flow of work which improves overall performance.
• Examinations, Assessments support that includes setup primarily IT Devices.

Other:


• To participate in any arrangements that may be made for appraisal and performance reviews.
• To attend department, or whole school meetings, induction, professional
• training days/workshops, and other school events, as required
• To initiate effort and energy beyond the typical workday, where the tasks require additional commitment.

Person Specification



Qualifications, experience and personal attributes:


• Degree in an ICT related field, Management Information Systems or equivalent.
• A minimum, of 5 years' experience in a related field
• Excellent skills in Microsoft Office including but not limited to Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
• Highly efficient and accurate with exceptional eye for detail.
• Self-motivated with the ability to analyse patterns and enhance processes.
• Good literacy skills
• Excellent organisational skills
• Ability to relate well to students and adults within a school environment.
• Tact and diplomacy in all interpersonal relationships with the public and colleagues at work.
• Self-motivation and personal drive to complete tasks to required timescales and quality standards.
• The flexibility to adapt to changing workload demands and new organisational challenges.
• Personal commitment to ensure services are equally accessible and appropriate to the diverse needs of service users.
