Job Summary:



The IT Support Assistant will play a crucial role in maintaining and supporting the organization's IT infrastructure. This position involves providing technical assistance, troubleshooting issues, managing UNIX servers, and ensuring efficient IT administration. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving skills, a solid understanding of IT concepts, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical staff.

Key Responsibilities:


1\. Technical Support: - Provide first-line technical support to end-users for hardware, software, and network-related issues. - Respond to support requests via phone, email, and helpdesk ticketing system. - Resolve issues in a timely manner and ensure minimal disruption to business operations.


2\. Troubleshooting: - Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software issues, including operating systems, applications, and network connectivity. - Perform root cause analysis on recurring issues and implement preventive measures. - Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff as necessary.


3\. UNIX Server Management: - Assist in the setup, configuration, and maintenance of UNIX servers. - Monitor server performance and availability, responding to alerts and performing necessary actions to ensure uptime. - Support user account management, file permissions, and security protocols on UNIX systems.


4\. IT Administration: - Maintain accurate documentation of IT processes, procedures, and inventory. - Assist in the implementation of IT policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards. - Help manage software licenses and hardware inventory.


5\. User Training and Support: - Conduct training sessions for staff on software applications and best practices in IT usage. - Create and update user manuals and training materials as needed.


6\. Collaboration:

- Work closely with other IT team members to support projects and initiatives. - Provide input for continuous improvement of IT services and user experience.

Qualifications:



• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

• Proven experience in IT support, troubleshooting, and UNIX server management.


• Strong understanding of computer systems, mobile devices, and other tech products.


• Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols.


• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical users.


• Certifications such as CompTIA A\+, ITIL, or UNIX/Linux certifications are a plus.
