The IT Manager will be responsible for overseeing the company's IT infrastructure, managing technology operations, and ensuring the implementation of secure, efficient, and scalable IT systems. The role involves providing strategic direction on technology solutions to improve business performance, streamline operations, and support the company's overall growth in the oil and gas or petrochemical sector. The IT Manager will also ensure that IT systems are in compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities and Duties:
IT Infrastructure Management:
Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the company's IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, data storage, and telecommunications systems.
Ensure the availability, reliability, and performance of all IT systems across the organization's operations, including remote or offshore sites.
Cybersecurity and Data Protection:
Develop, implement, and maintain robust cybersecurity policies and protocols to safeguard the company's data and digital assets.
Ensure compliance with relevant data protection laws, industry standards, and regulations specific to the oil and gas or petrochemical sectors.
Technology Strategy and Planning:
Work closely with senior management to align IT strategy with business goals, ensuring that technology initiatives support operational and business objectives.
Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance the company's competitive edge.
Lead the planning and execution of IT projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
System Integration and Support:
Oversee the integration of IT systems across different departments and business functions, ensuring seamless communication and data flow.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for all IT-related issues to minimize operational disruptions.
Manage vendor relationships and ensure that third-party IT service providers meet performance and service level agreements (SLAs).
Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery:
Develop, implement, and test disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure minimal downtime and data loss in case of system failures or emergencies.
Ensure that backup systems and processes are in place to support critical business functions.
IT Compliance and Regulatory Oversight:
Ensure IT systems comply with industry regulations and internal policies, including health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.
Maintain awareness of relevant laws and regulations affecting the IT infrastructure in the oil and gas/petrochemical industry, such as data privacy and safety standards.
Regularly audit IT systems for compliance and address any non-compliance issues promptly.
Team Leadership and Development:
Lead and manage the IT team, including hiring, training, and mentoring IT staff.
Foster a collaborative environment that encourages continuous learning and professional growth within the IT department.
Monitor team performance and implement strategies to ensure effective delivery of IT services across the organization.
Budgeting and Resource Management:
Prepare and manage the IT department budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources to meet operational needs and business goals.
Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising system quality, security, or reliability.
End-User Support and Training:
Develop and deliver training programs for employees to enhance their proficiency with IT systems and tools.
Ensure the IT helpdesk is responsive and effective in addressing technical issues raised by end-users.
Promote best practices for IT system usage across the company, ensuring that employees are equipped to work efficiently.
Project Management:
Lead and manage IT-related projects, such as system upgrades, cloud migrations, and software integrations, ensuring timely and successful project completion.
Coordinate with various stakeholders, including external vendors, internal departments, and senior management, to ensure alignment and successful project execution.
Skills and Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. (A Master's degree or certifications such as ITIL, PMP, or CISSP is a plus.)
Experience:
8+ years of experience in IT management, with at least 3-5 years in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry.
Proven track record in managing large-scale IT infrastructure, cybersecurity systems, and software applications.
Experience in managing IT teams and collaborating with cross-functional departments to meet business objectives.
Skills:
Strong technical knowledge of IT systems, including servers, networking, databases, cloud computing, and industrial control systems.
Expertise in cybersecurity, data protection, and regulatory compliance in the oil and gas/petrochemical industry.
Proficiency with IT management tools, such as system monitoring software, backup solutions, and cloud platforms.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication skills to interact with senior management, vendors, and end-users.
Certifications:
ITIL, PMP, CISSP, or other relevant IT certifications.
Knowledge of relevant industry standards, such as ISO 27001 for information security, and industry-specific standards for oil and gas/petrochemical.
