Position Summary:As an Internal Auditor, you will be responsible for conducting audits, assessing risk management, and ensuring internal controls are effective. You will work closely with departments to improve operational efficiency, reduce risks, and enhance the accuracy of financial reporting.Key Responsibilities:
Audit Planning and Execution:
Plan and execute audits, including risk-based and compliance audits, across various departments.
Develop detailed audit programs outlining scope, objectives, and methodology for each audit engagement.
Collect and analyze data through various methods, including interviews, document reviews, and system analysis.
Internal Controls and Risk Assessment:
Evaluate internal controls and ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.
Identify potential areas of operational, financial, or regulatory risk and propose mitigating strategies.
Assist in the development of risk management policies and procedures to enhance operational integrity.
Compliance and Regulatory Audits:
Conduct audits to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements (e.g., Sarbanes-Oxley Act).
Review compliance with internal policies and procedures to detect and prevent fraud.
Monitor industry regulations and standards to keep audit procedures up-to-date.
Reporting and Recommendations:
Document audit findings, prepare reports, and present findings and recommendations to management.
Provide actionable recommendations for improving internal controls, operational efficiency, and risk management.
Track and follow up on managements response to audit findings and corrective actions.
Continuous Improvement:
Participate in the development and implementation of audit tools and techniques.
Collaborate with other internal auditors and departments to improve audit processes and procedures.
Assist in the training and development of junior auditors as needed.
Required Skills:
Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, data analysis, and financial software.
Knowledge of audit methodologies, GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and risk assessment techniques.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and presenting findings.
Attention to detail and the ability to assess complex systems and processes.
Preferred Skills:
Proficiency with audit management software (e.g., TeamMate, ACL, or IDEA).
Knowledge of industry-specific regulations (e.g., healthcare, finance).
Familiarity with data analytics tools and SQL for data extraction and analysis.
Knowledge of enterprise risk management (ERM).
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
Professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CIA, CISA) are highly desirable.
4-6 years of experience in internal auditing, external auditing, or a related field.
Soft Skills:
Strong ethical standards and ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
Detail-oriented with a problem-solving approach.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Effective time management skills to meet project deadlines.
