AECOM are seeking a motivated Intern - Urban Planner to join our dynamic team. This role offers a rare chance to gain hands-on experience in urban planning and contribute to impactful projects in the region. With comprehensive on-the-job training, interns receive industry exposure and mentorship, immersing themselves into the world of AECOM and its operations. Working alongside experienced professionals on real projects, interns will have the opportunity to gain practical knowledge within the industry.

Exceptional interns meeting our criteria will receive a conditional offer for a full-time role and placement in our 2025 Graduate Program upon successful degree completion.

Below are responsibilities you\'ll encounter during your internship, contributing to iconic regional projects:

+ Support planning concepts and operations, completing basic applications under the guidance of senior planners.

+ Contribute to research-based tasks, ensuring output quality aligns with local office standards.

+ Gain familiarity with client/authority Planning Portals and Policy systems.

+ Assist in report production, project management tasks (e.g., preparing PMPs, drafting MoMs), and presentation preparations under supervision.

+ Analyze project briefs and sites, collaborating with peers to develop comprehensive site reviews and recommendations.

+ Conduct planning history reviews and site visits, identifying key constraints and opportunities under senior planner supervision.

+ Collect, understand, and interpret Zoning Regulations, local regulatory frameworks, and urban design guidelines in operating regions.

+ Maintain the office planning library with updated planning standards, regulations, and guidelines.

+ Contribute to the planning benchmarks library, researching systems, processes, governance, policies, and strategies, and bringing forth innovative ideas and trends.

Qualifications

+ Currently enrolled in the 3rd year of an Urban Planning Bachelor's Degree program at an accredited University

+ Maintaining a GPA of 2.7 or higher.

+ Available to participate in our 11-week Summer Internship Program from June to August 2024.

+ Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

+ Effective communication and collaboration skills.

+ Familiarity with GIS software (preferred but not required).

As part of AECOMs commitment to Emiratisation and in accordance with UAE labor law, only UAE Nationals with a family book will be considered for this role.
