Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Joinery Draftsman with expertise in creating detailed cutting lists for woodworking and joinery projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for producing accurate shop drawings, material breakdowns, and optimized cutting lists to ensure efficient production and minimal material waste.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Shop Drawings & Drafting

Create detailed 2D and 3D joinery drawings using AutoCAD or other drafting software.

Develop technical drawings for furniture, doors, kitchens, wardrobes, and custom woodwork.

Ensure drawings are in compliance with project specifications and industry standards.

2. Cutting List Preparation

Generate optimized cutting lists based on approved shop drawings.

Calculate panel sizes, wood lengths, and other material requirements.

Ensure efficient material utilization to minimize waste and reduce costs.

3. Coordination & Communication

Collaborate with production, procurement, and installation teams to ensure accurate fabrication.

Liaise with designers, architects, and engineers to clarify project details.

Update drawings based on feedback from production and site teams.

4. Material & CNC Coordination

Specify materials such as MDF, plywood, solid wood, veneers, laminates, and hardware.

Prepare CNC files and cutting layouts for machine processing when needed.

Verify that all materials and hardware are compatible with the design requirements.

5. Quality Control & Documentation

Maintain an organized database of drawings and cutting lists.

Conduct periodic reviews of drawings to ensure accuracy before production.

Assist in resolving technical issues related to fabrication and installation.

Requirements:

Education & Experience

Diploma or degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Woodworking, or a related field.

3-5 years of experience as a Joinery Draftsman in a woodworking or interior fit-out company.

Technical Skills

Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, SolidWorks, or similar drafting software.

Strong understanding of joinery fabrication techniques and materials.

Experience in preparing cutting lists, CNC files, and BOQs.

Soft Skills

Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Good communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of CNC programming and woodworking machinery.

Experience in parametric design software (e.g., Cabinet Vision, TopSolid).

Understanding of LEED, sustainability, and material efficiency in joinery.
