Job Description

Overview:

The Instrumentation Designer will be responsible for the 3D modeling, design, and development of instrumentation systems for oil and gas projects. This includes modeling cable ways, MCT (Multi-Cable Transit) designs, clash resolution, and producing necessary drawings such as installation, hook-up, and layout drawings. The role also involves extracting MTOs/BOMs for bulk materials and overseeing drafting work to ensure compliance with Qatar Gas (QG) and Qatar Petroleum (QP) standards.

Responsibilities:

Perform 3D modeling and design of instrumentation systems using E3D, SP3D, MicroStation, PDMS, and PDS software.

Design cable ways and MCT systems and resolve design clashes.

Extract and generate material take-offs (MTO) and bills of materials (BOM) for bulk materials.

Create and manage installation, hook-up, layout, and junction box (JB) drawings.

Participate actively in 3D model reviews, ensuring alignment with instrumentation design standards and resolving design issues.

Supervise and provide guidance to external draftsmen, ensuring the quality and accuracy of their work.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and ensure that instrumentation designs comply with QG, QP, and international standards.

Ensure the accurate delivery of all necessary documentation, drawings, and models for FEED and EPCI projects. Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering. Certifications / Specialization / IT Skills:

Specialization in Instrumentation Design.

Proficient in E3D, SP3D, MicroStation, PDMS, PDS, and related design software. Years of Experience:

More than 10 years of experience in instrumentation design within the oil and gas industry. Technical Knowledge:

Proven experience in Instrumentation/Telecom 3D modeling, including cable way and MCT design, clash resolution, and material take-off (MTO)/bill of material (BOM) extraction.

Experience in generating installation, hook-up, layout, and JB drawings, with a strong understanding of FEED and EPCI project instrumentation design processes.

Requirements:

3D Modeling Expertise: Extensive experience in using 3D design software (E3D, SP3D, MicroStation, PDMS, PDS) for instrumentation design, cable ways, and MCT systems, with a strong ability to resolve design clashes and extract accurate MTO/BOM. Instrumentation Design & Project Involvement: Demonstrated experience in producing high-quality installation, hook-up, and layout drawings for FEED and EPCI projects, including active participation in 3D model reviews and supervision of draftsmen, while adhering to QG/QP standards.
