Job Purpose
The Electrical Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment. The role ensures optimal and safe operations in line with company policies and regulatory standards, contributing to reduced downtime and efficient production.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Install, test, and commission electrical systems, wiring, and equipment based on technical drawings and specifications.
2. Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems, machinery, control panels, and plant facilities to ensure smooth operation and minimize downtime.
3. Diagnose faults, troubleshoot, and repair or replace faulty wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical components.
4. Support equipment shutdowns, overhauls, and major repairs to ensure minimal disruption to production.
5. Perform regular inspections to identify potential hazards or malfunctions and take corrective action.
6. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment status, and repairs completed.
7. Ensure compliance with electrical safety regulations, company policies, and procedures (including LOTO and Permit to Work systems).
8. Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to improve system reliability and performance.
9. Assist in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting PLCs and automated control systems.
10. Utilize electrical testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, circuit testers) to monitor and diagnose system performance.
11. Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, manuals, and work orders to perform maintenance and service tasks.
12. Detect faulty operations and defective materials, reporting issues to supervisors and taking corrective action as required.
13. Ensure work areas are clean, orderly, and compliant with safety standards at all times.
14. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, root cause analysis, and preventive action planning to enhance plant equipment reliability and efficiency.
15. Provide guidance and technical support to less experienced technicians when required.
Qualifications & Skills:
Diploma or Technical Certificate in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
3-5 years of experience as an Electrical Technician in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
Hands-on experience with industrial electrical systems (low and high-voltage applications).
Knowledge of PLC systems and industrial automation is an advantage.
Familiarity with electrical safety standards (local and international), including LOTO and Permit to Work.
Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
