The Inclusion Teacher plays a crucial role in promoting an inclusive and supportive learning
environment for students with diverse needs and abilities. They collaborate with classroom
teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement strategies that meet the
unique educational requirements of students with disabilities or learning differences.
Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators and support staff to develop
and implement inclusive practices that meet the needs of students with disabilities or learning
differences.
2. Assess individual student needs and collaboratively create individualized education plans
(IEPs) or accommodation plans to address their unique learning requirements.
3. Provide direct instruction and support to students with disabilities or learning differences
within the general education classroom, adapting instructional strategies and materials as
needed.
4. Collaborate with classroom teachers to modify and differentiate curriculum content,
instructional techniques, and assessment methods to ensure equitable access to learning for
all students.
5. Collaborate with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders to create a strong partnership
focused on meeting the unique needs of students with disabilities or learning differences.
6. Utilize assistive technology and specialized instructional tools to enhance students'
learning experiences and facilitate their participation in the general education curriculum.
7. Monitor and document student progress, collect data, and provide regular feedback to
students, parents, and the IEP team to inform instructional decision-making.
8. Attend termly IEP meetings.
9. Support and guide therapist to practise quality first teaching in order to implement the
provision for their student.
10. Attend and actively participate in professional development opportunities to stay updated
on best practices in inclusive education and special education laws and regulations.
11. Collaborate with Behavior Analyst and Behavior Therapists to implement behavior
intervention plans, and adapt lessons and routines accordingly.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field.
2. Valid teaching certification or licensure in special education or a relevant area.
3. Approved training certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis.
4. Demonstrated knowledge of inclusive education practices, special education laws, and
regulations.
5. Ability to identify individualized accommodations and interventions required to optimize
learning for each student.
6. Recent experience working with students with disabilities or learning differences,
preferably in an inclusive classroom setting.
7. Experience working with students who present mild-to-moderate behavior challenges.
8. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with students,
parents, teachers, and other stakeholders.
9. Ability to adapt instructional strategies and materials to meet the diverse needs of students.
10. Knowledge and proficiency in utilizing assistive technology and specialized instructional
tools.
11. Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to advocating for the rights and needs of
students with disabilities or learning differences.
12. Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, documents, and deadlines related to IEPs
and student progress monitoring.
13. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
14. IT knowledge and background would be an added advantage
