The role ensures that the facility operates in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, minimizes risks, and promotes a safe working environment for all employees and visitors.Key Responsibilities:Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:
Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies and procedures in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including OSHA standards and environmental laws.
Conduct regular EHS audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement.
Conduct electrical safety audits and risk assessments to identify hazards associated with electrical systems and equipment.
Risk Management:
Identify and assess workplace risks and hazards within data centre operations.
Assist in the development of risk assessments and safe work procedures.
Investigate accidents and incidents, and prepare detailed reports with recommendations for corrective actions.
Carry out risk assessments and site inspections.
Review all contractor/vendor EHS documentation.
Training:
Develop and deliver HSE training programs and workshops for employees to promote awareness and compliance.
Ensure all staff are trained in emergency response procedures and first aid.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and update, as necessary.
Manage and roll out HSE toolbox talk to staff and vendors.
Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, audits, incidents, and training.
Keep up to date with industry best practices and changes in regulations.
Conduct emergency drills and ensure all employees are familiar with emergency protocols.
Develop and enforce electrical safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures and safe work practices.
Perform regular inspections of electrical installations and equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards.
Analyze electrical hazards and implement controls to mitigate risks.
Conduct safety audits and assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of electrical safety programs.
Consultation:
Provide expert advice and support to employees and vendors on HSE matters.
Assist in the development of health and safety strategies and initiatives.
Foster a culture of safety and environmental stewardship within the organization, particularly with vendors/visitors.
Keeping up to date with health and safety legislation
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Relevant certifications such as NEBOSH, OSHA, or equivalent.
Proven experience in HSE roles, preferably within data centres or similar facilities.
Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
