IB Biology Teacher Muscat, Oman August 2025 Start The school is a bilingual IB World School situated in Muscat, Oman serving the local Omani community, as well as the bilingual expatriate community. The school is authorised to offer all three International Baccalaureate (IB) programs and the quality of its provision has been recognized with accreditation from the Council for International Schools (CIS). Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and innovative IB Biology Teacher to join our vibrant, international educational community. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a rigorous and engaging IB Biology curriculum that inspires inquiry, fosters critical thinking, and nurtures a passion for the biological sciences among students. This role requires a deep understanding of the IB Diploma Programme, a commitment to educational excellence, and a collaborative spirit to contribute to school-wide initiatives and continuous professional development. Key Responsibilities Curriculum Delivery: Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans in line with the IB Biology curriculum. Utilize a variety of teaching methodsincluding inquiry-based learning, hands-on experiments, and technology integrationto cater to diverse learning styles. Student Engagement & Assessment: Create an interactive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages discussion, exploration, and independent thought. Monitor and assess student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing timely feedback and support. Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs and promote academic growth. Curriculum Development & Collaboration: Contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of the IB Biology curriculum. Collaborate with colleagues in department meetings, interdisciplinary projects, and professional learning communities. Engage in regular professional development opportunities to remain current with best practices in IB education. Community Involvement: Foster strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. Participate in extracurricular activities and contribute to school events, committees, and initiatives that enhance the overall educational experience. Qualifications & Requirements Educational Background: Bachelors degree in Biology, Education, or a related field; an advanced degree is an advantage. Qualified teacher status (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent certification) is required. Experience: Demonstrable experience in teaching Biology at the secondary level, ideally within the IB framework. Proven track record of implementing inquiry-based learning and integrating innovative teaching practices. Skills & Attributes: Understanding of the IB Diploma Programme and its assessment criteria. Excellent classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to inspire and motivate students while maintaining high academic standards. Commitment to fostering an inclusive and culturally diverse learning environment. Proficiency in modern educational technologies and digital tools.
