We have an exciting opportunity for you!As the HR Manager you will lead Thungela Marketing Internationals people strategy to provide strategic HR support to the team aligned to the organisations strategy and people practices.Thungela Resources [Thungela means to ignite in isiZulu] is a leading South African thermal coal business, focused exclusively on thermal coal production. It is one of the largest pure-play producers and exporters of thermal coal in South Africa based on aggregate coal reserves and marketable coal production. Thungela focuses on exporting its thermal coal portfolio mainly to the Indian, Asian, Southeast Asian, Middle East and North African markets. Supporting this expansive export operation is Thungela Marketing International (TMI), an integral arm of Thungela designed to enhance the companys global reach and market penetration. TMI is responsible for the strategic marketing and distribution of Thungelas thermal coal exports. This division plays a crucial role in optimising market presence and price realisation, ensuring Thungela's coal is competitively positioned in the international marketplaceYour duties will include providing strategic HR leadership and hands-on support across Thungela Marketing International (TMI), managing the effective delivery of HR processes aligned to applicable legislation and the wider Thungela policies, driving initiatives that align HR practices with business objectives for optimal organisational performance and growth.More of your responsibilities will include:
Act as a strategic advisor for all HR processes across TMI to drive the effective achievement of business objectives
Drive the development and implementation of effective HR governance for TMI.
Facilitate seamless international business operations and expansions by owning the HR due diligence process
Manage the effective execution of all HR processes for TMI
Coordinate with the Thungela Reward team and applicable vendor for monthly payroll input preparation and employee leave management
Deliver effective learning programs, developed in collaboration with the learning and development team, to improve employee skills and knowledge and supporting organisational objectives
Ensure full compliance with UAE labour legislation, including in relation to employee relations, to minimise legal risks and foster a fair and equitable workplace environment
Provide guidance and advisory services to management and employees on labour compliance and best practices
Drive the implementation of effective employee engagement programs and initiatives to cultivate a positive work culture aligned to the Thungela Way.
Manage the establishment of a conducive office environment by overseeing office administrative functions, handling employee documents, and manage office facilities, assets, and events
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, or related discipline (NQF level 7) or international equivalent.
Advantageous: Honours Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, or related discipline (NQF level 8) or international equivalent.
Advantageous: Member of an HR professional body
Experience & Knowledge
Minimum of 10 years experience within Human Resources Management, preferably in a commodities marketing environment
Additional InformationAdvanced knowledge of all relevant legislation and governance standards including:
Advanced knowledge of UAE Labour laws and regulations
Advanced knowledge of corporate governance principles, specifically as it pertains to the management of HR within the UAE
Advanced knowledge of stakeholder management
Proficient knowledge of mining and other relevant global legislation applicable to Thungela in line with the area of work
Proficient knowledge of the management of expatriates
Proficient knowledge of the sales and marketing value chain
Proficient knowledge of data analysis and reporting techniques, processes, and tools
