The HSE Officer is responsible for establishing and maintaining a safe, healthy environment for students, staff, and visitors within our educational institution. This role involves the development, implementation, and enforcement of comprehensive safety procedures and regulations to mitigate risks of accidents, injuries, and health hazards on school premises.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement robust HSE policies aligned with institutional needs and local regulations (ADEK, SEHA, Civil Defense, and Municipality).
• Conduct thorough risk assessments across all school facilities, identifying potential hazards and implementing appropriate control measures.
• Investigate incidents, determine root causes, and develop corrective and preventive actions, maintaining detailed records and reports.
• Design and deliver comprehensive HSE training programs for staff and students to enhance safety awareness and protocol adherence.
• Perform regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety standards, identifying areas for improvement.
• Develop and maintain emergency response plans, coordinating drills and exercises to ensure preparedness.
• Stay abreast of relevant HSE legislation and best practices, ensuring institutional compliance and implementing necessary updates.
• Maintain accurate HSE documentation, including incident reports, risk assessments, and training records on the ADEK portal and other relevant systems.
• Collaborate across departments to foster a culture of safety, effectively communicating HSE requirements and initiatives.
• Continuously monitor and evaluate HSE performance, implementing initiatives to enhance safety practices and standards.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field
• Relevant certifications such as NEBOSH
• Mandatory minimum of 2-3 years of HSE experience within an educational institution
• Comprehensive knowledge of UAE HSE regulations, with specific expertise in Abu Dhabi local laws
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills in English; Arabic proficiency is highly advantageous
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across diverse stakeholder groups
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant HSE software applications
• Proven track record of implementing successful HSE initiatives in an educational setting
