Job duties and responsibilities
• Develop and implement comprehensive and robust HSE strategies and policies aligned with goals and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure HSE practices are integrated into all aspects of operations, particularly high-rise building projects.
• Ensure compliance with UAE Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations, local building codes, and environmental laws.
• Monitor changes in legislation and update policies and procedures accordingly.
• Oversee the risk assessment process and develop risk management strategies for high-rise construction projects.
• Ensure effective control measures are in place to manage and mitigate potential hazards.
• Develop, define, and implement assessment metrics, i.e., key risk indicators and monitor performance against them.
• Provide leadership and direction to the HSE teams to mitigate incidents, fires and overall risks.
• Develop and implement training programs for employees, contractors, and stakeholders to enhance HSE awareness and compliance.
• Establish appropriate emergency response mechanisms in the event of a crisis and be able to mobilize all teams quickly to ensure that the crisis is managed quickly, safely and with minimal damage to the individuals or business.
• Ensure adherence to environmental regulations and promote sustainability initiatives.
• Implement and audit safety management system and ensure compliance with legislation, fire and safety regulations, and ISO standards.
• Prepare and present detailed HSE reports to senior management and external stakeholders.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate HSE considerations into project planning and execution.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of HSE programs and practices.
Job qualifications/requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., NEBOSH 6,7, IOSH, OSHA) are highly desirable.
• 18+ years of experience in HSE management in the construction industry, with a focus on high- rise buildings including at least 5 years as HOD.
• In-depth knowledge of UAE HSE regulations, high-rise construction standards, and environmental laws.
• Proven track record of implementing successful HSE strategies and managing large-scale high- rise projects.
