Purpose:To provide visionary leadership and demonstrate exemplary management skills in the recruitment and development of faculty, the implementation of a superior curriculum, the assurance of long-term school financial stability, and the provision of effective communication with all the schools constituents. To model and encourage DAAs Culture of Kindness and to perpetuate the schools mission and values.
To commit time and leadership for the successful implementation of the DAAs School Improvement Plan.
To ensure that all teachers and support staff have a clear understanding of their performance expectations (e.g., job descriptions and faculty handbook) and to assist faculty towards becoming master teachers.
To establish willingness to be a mentor to all faculty as well as encouraging their professional growth and career advancement.
To demonstrate role-model traits that enable others to recognize the Assistant Principal as a leader.
To seek management harmony and to instill a sense of common purpose and common pursuit toward consensus goals with regards to the decision-making process.
To communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, parents, colleagues and in the community (i.e. verbal, non-verbal and written communication).
To seek the involvement of faculty and parents in a wide variety of School activities.
To develop the leadership capabilities of teachers so that instructional leadership becomes a shared responsibility.
To collaborate with the Dean of Students and attendance secretary to ensure that a reliable system of monitoring student attendance is maintained.
To collaborate with the Dean of Students and enforce the HS Disciplinary Guidelines as laid out in the HS Handbook, including the supervision and record keeping.
To be visible during the school day, particularly during class changes, lunch, dismissal, etc.
To schedule and facilitate external assessments and semester exams, including the proctoring schedule and distribution and collection of exams.
To participate in the development of curriculum documentation that specifies content and skills, instructional methods and assessment practices.
To review assessment results that determine whether curriculum and instructional goals and student performance outcomes are being met.
To collaborate with assigned departments and relevant teachers to support their professional growth through goal setting, observation and needs-based professional development.
To provide targeted and ongoing support to teachers who are rated below Good to ensure their growth and development to effectively support student progress and attainment.
To oversee student intervention for those students who require academic, behavior and or socio-emotional support.
To create an efficient, productive, collaborative, reflective and caring building atmosphere where all students (and faculty) have the opportunity to be recognized for their best efforts.
To ensure that all of the schools resources are identified and being used to serve students and faculty members alike; help both to reach their full performance potential.
To assume the responsibility for sound financial management including accurate program budget planning and fiscal accountability.
To have a personal commitment to seek constant professional learning and professional growth and to be a life-long learner.
To accept the importance and necessity in attending after school student activity programs and parent events.
To willingly take on all responsibility for the mechanics of the assignment; activities such as aiding with the development of a master school schedule, accurate record keeping, office accounting, etc.
To be a willing and active participant in committee work as well as a contributing member of the Administrative Team.
To perform other activities as might be required for the general welfare of the school and/or as requested by the High School Principal or the Superintendent/CEO.
SkillsQualifications / knowledge:
Current North American teacher and administration certification; (preferred)
