Position: Heavy Bus / Truck Driver

Location: Abu Dhabi

• Role overview

Reports directly to the Senior Administration & Facilities Manager, Drivers are responsible for various transporting duties, transporting employees and clients, carrying out vehicle maintenance checks, interacting with clients in a professional conduct and planning each route based on road and traffic conditions.

Conditions of work

Drivers are responsible for delivering packages to clients in a timely manner, working on nights and weekends and ensuring that vehicles are always ready for use, among other duties. Drivers will need to lift heavy objects and load them into their vehicles, requiring upper body strength and physical stamina.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Map out driving routes ahead of time to determine the most expedient trip
• Transporting employees, clients around in an efficient, safe and timely manner
• Transporting employees, clients daily to their desired destinations, keeping road and passengers safety at all times
• Maintain strict confidentiality on all conversations and information heard during transport assignments
• Maintaining the vehicle safe and clean
• Punctual and be at least 15 minutes to the designated time and place.
• Using navigation apps to determine the best route
• Pick up clients from the place and at the time they've requested
• Collect payments, receiving receipts/invoice, etc.
• Loading and unloading of packages, parcels, equipment, etc.
• Updated with traffic and weather reports to stay up-to-date on road conditions
• Adjust the route to avoid heavy traffic or road constructions, as needed
• Answer clients' questions about the area and local places of interest
• Ensure the car seats are clean and comfortable for all riders
• Schedule regular car service appointments and report any issues, arrange for vehicle care and maintenance (i.e. oil change, tire rotation, cleaning, etc.).
• Book car wash and detailing services to maintain interior and exterior cleanliness of the car
• Updating monthly mileage records
• Display good behaviour, excellent manners, and a helping attitude
• Flexible working hours, attentive and available on an immediate call basis at any time including weekends
• Take instructions from supervisor regarding each day's deliveries or pick / drop services
• Take stock of designated vehicle and ensure that it is road worthy
• Check tires, engines and seatbelts to ensure that they are in good working order
• Make-certain that the vehicle's fluids are at optimal levels
• Clean car seats, rugs, dashboards and mats on a daily basis
• Assist in loading and unloading packages on trucks and vans
• Provide assistance with luggage and boarding to passengers
• Mentally chart out best possible route to reach desired destination
• Make use of maps and the GPS to assist in charting out actual routes
• Maintain professional decorum during commute time
• Pick and drop company professionals from /to desired destinations
• Make deliveries by maintaining correct knowledge of destinations and concerned contacts
• Assist in unloading packages and delivering to customers' doors
• Provide customers with receipts and take signatures
• Take and forward any complaints made by customers to the supervisor
• Drive back vehicle to the company by following strict timeline rules
• Change tires and make minor adjustments or repairs to engine or vehicle body during, before and after transit
• Perform general and preventative maintenance on vehicle by following scheduled timings
• Take vehicle to washing areas or wash them according to specific instructions
• Handle maintenance of vehicle air conditioning and heating system
• Any other Ad Hoc duties that maybe assigned from time to time.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

• Higher Diploma, High School or GED
• Minimum 4 years' experience as Driver in the UAE, valid UAE Driving License #3, 4 & 6 with clean driving record.
• Minimum visual acuity of 20/50 (or corrected to 20/50)
• Familiarity with navigation apps, GPS devices, knowledgeable of area roads, shortcuts and neighborhoods
• Experience in Delivery/Credit notes, Invoices, etc.
• A polite, professional disposition, presentable with good personal grooming and hygiene
• Ability to remain calm in stressful driving situations (e.g. at rush hour)
• Highly organized and detail-oriented; hands-on commitment to getting the job done
• Good interpersonal, communication skills; proven ability in coordination and attention to details
• Ability to lift heavy packages and luggage
• Flexible working hours, availability to occasionally take weekend and night shifts
• Basic Arabic and proficient in English.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED2,500.00 - AED3,000.00 per month

• UAE: 4 years (Required)
• UAE roads, routes, shortcuts, etc.: 4 years (Required)

License/Certification:

• Valid UAE driving license # 3, 4 & 6. (Required)
