Job SummaryHead of VA& TAX is required by my client a leading global organisation that is seeking the expertise of a VAT/TAX head to lead them through the new VAT/Tax obligations. The company is devised of multiple companies that forms a group and would require VAT/Tax expertise in areas such as Mergers & Acquisitions, strategic planning, due diligence and restructuring.Key Responsibilities

• Prime owner of tax planning initiatives involving companies in the region
• Working on simplifications (e.g. mergers and liquidations) with group legal.
• Working with group treasury on financing matters.
• Providing broad advice on commercial structures.
• Take overall responsibility for ensuring that Group policies and practices are tax compliant
• Review and assist legal departments with tax issues in legal and contractual issues
• Provide tax advice and direction to the business units and other group parties
• Monitoring and managing tax risk including transfer pricing
• Manage Group tax governance in conjunction with business CFOs
• Manage external adviser relationships
• Representation in industry bodies

Required Skills

• The ideal candidate will be ACA qualified with 10-15 years experience.
• Preferably trained in a big 4 firm with subsequent in-house experience (Tech industry experience would be a bonus)
• Pro-active in managing advisors and costs in a cost conscious environment
• Planning work experience impacting on all areas of direct and indirect tax across a variety of infrastructure type entities
• Ability to present complex technical issues in lay language to a non-specialist audience business oriented
• Ability to present complex technical issues in swift business manner to local and international management
• Ability to lead and motivate staff
• Combination of autonomy with collaborative spirit
• Strong intellectual and analytical skills
• Strong networking and influencing skills
• Solid communication skills
• Arabic or French would be a plus
• Must have a degree in account (or tax), Masters would be beneficial.
