As the Head of Organization Development, you are expected to lead and oversee the development and implementation of effective organizational development (OD) initiatives that align with the University of Sharjah's strategic goals. Your role will involve conducting organizational assessments, designing and delivering OD interventions, and facilitating change management processes to enhance organizational performance, culture, and agility. In addition, you will supervise the team, ensuring adherence to department standards and procedures, while staying abreast of industry trends to drive continuous improvement within the university.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
Develop the section's operational plans and monitor their effective implementation while ensuring they align with other plans from across the department to realize the Organization Development Office's overall strategic objectives.
Develop and launch across organization development initiatives to ensure alignment to strategy, the effectiveness of internal processes and systems, and relativity to best practices.
Lead the process of identifying gaps and areas of improvement through conducting diagnostic reviews and current state assessments and highlighting possible solutions.
Lead the process of conducting external research and benchmark studies to identify best practices and new developments.
Design and develop suitable plans to address the identified problem areas and provide support to the stakeholders to ensure proper implementation.
Lead the design and delivery of organizational development and change
Lead the process of developing and reviewing the overall organization structures as per the UoS Strategic Plan and facilitate the process of developing /reviewing departmental organization structures in collaboration with the concerned stakeholders.
Lead the job design process based on the business needs of the college/department.
Oversee/lead all restructuring-related initiatives and liaise with external parties as required, as well as the concerned internal department heads.
Provide advice on organization development-related matters to the senior management, Deans and Directors.
Build strong relationships with leaders across different colleges and departments to secure buy-in for OD initiatives and ensure their successful implementation.
Stay informed about the industry's best practices and ensure that the OD initiatives are relevant to the UoS's current needs.
Organize and supervise activities and work of subordinates to ensure all work within the section is carried out efficiently and consistently with the Financial and Administrative Affairs function's operating procedures and operational plans.
Lead the hiring process for the OD Office including identifying job requirements, sorting and reviewing candidate resumes, and contributing to the selection and interview process in order to ensure the best and most suitable candidates are selected for the available vacancies.
Supervise the effective achievement of the section's objectives, set individual goals, supervise the team's performance, keep them updated and informed, and support their development to achieve the OD Office's overall objectives.
Provide on-the-job training and constructive feedback to all subordinates to support their overall personal and professional development to prepare a workforce that drives UOS and achieves strategic objectives.
Develop the Senior Specialist's supervisory capabilities by assigning responsibilities, which would require managing the team members, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, providing guidance and on-the-job training, and reporting on status and results.
Complete any other job-related tasks as assigned by the line manager within the expected time limit.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to prepare professional documents, in both Arabic and English.
Excellent working knowledge of personal computer applications with an emphasis on MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, and Teams.
Advanced OD knowledge.
Strategic thinking, planning, and analysis skills, with the ability to develop creative solutions to support the management of change.
Excellent project and time management skills.
Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a relevant discipline.
A professional Human Resources certification (such as CIPD, SHRM, etc.) or Master's Degree in a related field.
12-14 years of UAE experience in a similar role, preferably in higher education institutions.
