Job Description

Heres what youll do:
  • Guide, support, and train your team, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented environment.
  • Oversee the execution of voyage orders, guaranteeing adherence to contracts and regulations for both tankers and bulk carriers.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with various stakeholders, including charterers, brokers, and owners, to optimize cargo operations.
  • For tankers, youll supervise safe and thorough tank cleaning according to industry standards, ensuring hazardous cargoes are handled with the utmost care.
  • Optimize vessel efficiency and minimize turnaround times for bulk carriers by monitoring hold cleaning, loading, stowage, and discharge activities.
  • As a problem solver, youll address any disputes or issues arising after fixtures are finalized, safeguarding the companys interests.
  • Keep your finger on the pulse by monitoring voyage performance and working to ensure efficient vessel turnarounds.
  • Implement best practices and process improvements to drive operational excellence and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure accurate and timely issuance of laytime calculations and freight invoices.
  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes impacting tanker and bulk shipping operations.
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Master Mariner with 8-10 years of solid experience in tanker and/or dry bulk ship operations (tanker experience is a plus!).
  • Proven leadership and management skills in post-fixture operations.
  • Deep understanding of tanker operations, including tank cleaning procedures, and the intricacies of bulk carrier operations and cargo handling.
  • A sharp mind with exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships.
  • The ability to thrive under pressure and prioritize effectively.
  • Proficiency in relevant software programs and systems (like IMOS) is a must.
  • A certification from a recognized maritime institution (e.g., Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers) is a valuable bonus.
