Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Estimation - Joinery to lead and manage the estimating department for our joinery division. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of joinery and carpentry, coupled with strong leadership capabilities and expertise in managing complex estimations for bespoke, large-scale joinery projects. You will oversee a team of estimators, develop estimating strategies, and ensure the accurate and timely preparation of quotes, cost estimates, and project budgets to support the successful execution of joinery projects.
As Head of Estimation, you will play a crucial role in shaping the division's pricing strategy, ensuring competitiveness in tenders, and delivering profitable projects. You will work closely with project managers, designers, and clients to ensure that all estimates align with client requirements, project specifications, and budget constraints.
Key Responsibilities:
• Leadership & Team Management:
Lead, manage, and mentor a team of estimators within the joinery division. Provide guidance, training, and support to team members to ensure consistent, accurate, and high-quality estimating outputs. Promote a collaborative and efficient working environment.
• Strategic Oversight:
Develop and implement estimating strategies and methodologies specific to joinery projects. Continuously assess and improve the accuracy, efficiency, and competitiveness of the estimating function, ensuring it supports the overall business objectives.
• Joinery Cost Estimation:
Oversee the preparation of detailed and accurate cost estimates for joinery projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services. Assess project designs, specifications, and scope to produce competitive and comprehensive bids for bespoke and large-scale joinery works.
• Tender & Bid Management:
Lead the preparation and submission of tenders for joinery projects, ensuring that pricing, schedules, and terms are well-organized and meet client requirements. Develop detailed cost breakdowns, pricing schedules, and risk analyses for complex joinery projects.
• Collaboration with Project Teams:
Work closely with project managers, designers, architects, and clients to understand project scope and specifications. Offer technical expertise on joinery materials, finishes, and construction methods to ensure feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
• Material & Subcontractor Sourcing:
Build strong relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and manufacturers to obtain competitive pricing and ensure that materials and services are sourced efficiently. Oversee subcontractor negotiations and ensure that supplier quotations are accurately reflected in the final estimates.
• Value Engineering & Cost Optimization:
Provide value engineering input, offering alternative design solutions or materials that may result in cost savings while maintaining quality and design integrity. Ensure that all estimates are aligned with the project budget and timelines, identifying cost-effective solutions without compromising on quality.
• Risk Management & Contingency Planning:
Proactively identify potential risks in cost, materials, and project timelines during the estimating phase. Recommend risk mitigation strategies and ensure that contingency allowances are factored into estimates for unforeseen project developments.
• Budget Oversight & Cost Control:
Monitor and manage project budgets, ensuring that estimates remain within the approved financial framework. Track and report any changes in project scope or costs, making necessary adjustments and communicating with project managers and senior leadership.
• Reporting & Analytics:
Prepare regular reports on estimating activities, tender outcomes, and project cost forecasting. Provide insights and analysis on cost trends, performance, and opportunities for improvement within the estimating process.
• Continuous Improvement & Innovation:
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in joinery estimation. Introduce innovative tools, processes, and software to enhance estimating accuracy and efficiency (e.g., Building Information Modeling [BIM], estimating software, etc.).
• Training & Development:
Develop and lead training programs to improve the skills of the estimating team, ensuring they are equipped with the latest tools, techniques, and industry knowledge. Encourage professional development and certification in joinery and construction estimating.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Up to AED18,000.00 per month
