We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Barista to lead our coffee team, ensuring an exceptional coffee experience for our customers. The Head Barista will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing barista staff, maintaining a high level of product quality, and fostering a welcoming atmosphere. This position requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of coffee brewing techniques, and a dedication to customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
• Leadership and Staff Management:
• Supervise, mentor, and train barista staff to ensure consistency in service and coffee quality.
• Schedule shifts for baristas, ensuring adequate coverage during peak hours.
• Provide ongoing feedback and performance reviews to baristas, helping them develop their skills.
• Coffee Preparation and Quality Control:
• Oversee the preparation and serving of coffee drinks, ensuring consistency, quality, and presentation.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization in the coffee station and kitchen areas.
• Manage inventory of coffee beans, syrups, and other supplies, ensuring stock is always fresh and appropriately maintained.
• Customer Service:
• Ensure customers receive an excellent experience, from greeting to serving.
• Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback professionally and promptly.
• Promote the brand's image and values by providing excellent service and maintaining a positive atmosphere.
• Training and Development:
• Conduct regular training sessions for new and existing staff on coffee brewing techniques, customer service, and health & safety procedures.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and incorporate new techniques or product offerings into the cafe.
• Operational Responsibilities:
• Assist in ordering and stocking supplies, ensuring the cafe is always fully stocked with essential items.
• Ensure that health and safety regulations are followed at all times, including cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety.
• Manage cash handling, POS systems, and daily cash register reconciliation.
• Qualifications
• Proven experience as a barista, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Certification in coffee preparation (e.g., Specialty Coffee Association or similar).
• Barista or cafe management experience in a high-volume setting.
• Knowledge of inventory and stock management systems.
• In-depth knowledge of coffee brewing methods, espresso machines, and coffee beans.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle high-pressure situations while maintaining attention to detail.
• Customer-focused with a passion for delivering excellent service.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Food safety and health & safety knowledge.
• Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
