Job Description

Duties and responsibilities of a head barista:

Supervision and Leadership:

• Supervise and oversee the daily operations of the coffee bar.
• Provide guidance and direction to baristas and other team members.
• Lead by example in delivering exceptional customer service and beverage quality.

Training and Development:

• Train new baristas on beverage preparation techniques, recipes, and customer service standards.
• Conduct ongoing training sessions to ensure all staff are knowledgeable and skilled.
• Mentor and coach baristas to improve their skills and performance.

Quality Control:

• Ensure all beverages meet quality and presentation standards.
• Regularly taste coffee and espresso to ensure consistency and excellence.
• Implement quality control measures to maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, and hygiene.

Inventory Management:

• Manage inventory levels of coffee beans, syrups, milk, and other supplies.
• Place orders for replenishment and monitor stock levels.
• Minimize waste and control costs related to inventory.

Customer Service:

• Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback in a professional manner.
• Ensure a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for customers.
• Resolve customer issues promptly and effectively.

Menu Development:

• Develop and update beverage menus based on customer preferences and seasonal availability.
• Introduce new drinks and specials to attract and retain customers.
• Experiment with different recipes and flavors to enhance the menu.

Operational Efficiency:

• Optimize workflow and streamline operations to maximize efficiency.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee bar and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Staff Management:

• Schedule shifts and manage staffing levels to meet operational requirements.
• Monitor staff performance and provide feedback for improvement.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations and goal-setting sessions.

Financial Management:

• Monitor sales performance and contribute to achieving revenue targets.
• Control operational costs and expenses within budgetary constraints.
• Prepare reports on sales, inventory, and other operational metrics as required.

Team Collaboration:

• Foster a positive and cooperative work environment among team members.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff, management, and other departments as necessary.
• Participate in meetings and contribute ideas for business growth and improvement.
