A gypsum carpenter, also known as a drywall installer or gypsum board installer, specializes in the installation, repair, and finishing of gypsum board (drywall) in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. Here is a detailed description of the role and responsibilities of a gypsum carpenter: Primary Responsibilities:
- Installation of Gypsum Board:
- Measure and cut gypsum boards to fit specific dimensions.
- Secure gypsum boards to wood or metal frameworks using nails, screws, or adhesives.
- Align and secure sheets to studs or joists using appropriate tools.
- Finishing Work:
- Apply joint compound over seams, nail or screw depressions, and imperfections.
- Tape and embed joints between panels using tape and joint compound.
- Sand and smooth surfaces to achieve a seamless finish.
- Apply texture finishes if required, such as stippling, knockdown, or orange peel.
- Carpentry: 2 years (Required)
