Job Description

The Group Head of Tax will be responsible for overseeing and managing the entire corporate tax function within the company. This strategic leadership role will ensure compliance with all tax laws and regulations while driving tax efficiency, risk management, and tax savings initiatives. The individual in this position will also serve as a key advisor to senior management, providing expert guidance on corporate tax matters and advising on tax planning, strategy, and optimization. Additionally, the candidate should have experience working as a consultant to support corporate tax requirements effectively. Job Accountabilities Tax Compliance Oversee the preparation, review, and filing of corporate tax returns (local and international), ensuring timely and accurate submission within required deadlines. Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and international tax laws and regulations. Monitor and interpret changes in tax legislation, evaluating their impact on corporate operations and advising on necessary adjustments. Lead coordination with external tax advisors, auditors, and tax authorities during audits and assessments. Manage relationships with tax authorities and act as a liaison during tax inquiries and disputes. Develop and implement advanced tax-efficient strategies aligned with the company's financial goals and objectives. Provide expert advice on the tax implications of complex business decisions, including mergers, acquisitions, restructuring, joint ventures, and other corporate transactions. Proactively assess and optimize corporate tax positions to reduce liabilities and maximize available tax benefits, leveraging the latest industry insights. Advise senior leadership on global tax structures and opportunities for international tax planning. Cross-Functional Collaboration Collaborate with senior leadership, finance, legal, and other departments to provide strategic tax insights that support business growth and operational efficiency. Work closely with external consultants, legal advisors, auditors, and tax authorities to resolve complex tax issues and ensure compliance. Provide guidance and mentorship to internal tax teams and staff, fostering a high-performance culture. Tax Reporting and Analysis Lead the preparation and presentation of quarterly and annual tax provisions, ensuring that all tax-related reporting is accurate and aligned with corporate financial reporting standards. Provide tax-related information to support financial statements and ensure proper documentation for audit and compliance purposes. Conduct in-depth tax analysis to support decision-making at the corporate level. Consultancy Support for Corporate Tax Provide tax consulting services across the organization, including advising on tax planning, structuring, and compliance matters. Lead tax due diligence efforts for potential mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring initiatives. Offer strategic tax advisory services to business units to ensure tax considerations are factored into business decisions. Qualifications & Education Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA, Chartered Tax Advisor, or similar certification is preferred). In-depth knowledge of international tax, corporate tax compliance, transfer pricing, and tax planning strategies. Experience Minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in corporate taxation, including at least 3 to 5 years of consultant experience in a tax advisory role ideally within a large corporate or professional services environment. Proven track record in managing complex corporate tax issues and leading cross-functional teams. Experience advising multinational companies on tax structuring, mergers and acquisitions, and other strategic tax initiatives. Knowledge & Skills Strong technical expertise in tax laws, regulations, and accounting principles across multiple jurisdictions. In-depth understanding of tax compliance, planning, and optimization strategies. Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. High attention to detail with the ability to think strategically and communicate complex tax issues effectively to senior management. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity and professionalism. Technical Proficiency Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Familiarity with tax software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) SAP systems. Seniority level
