The Financial Controller is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the financial operations and ensuring the financial health of the organization. The role encompasses a wide range of financial activities, from strategic planning and analysis to financial reporting, risk management, and team leadership. The position plays a critical role in supporting decision-making by providing accurate financial insights to the top Management and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Financial Planning and Analysis:
Develop and implement financial strategies, budgets, and forecasts for the group of companies.
Analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to support decision-making.
Monitor and report on financial performance, identifying areas for improvement and recommending solutions.
Financial Reporting:
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Ensure compliance with local accounting standards and regulations.
Provide financial reports and analysis to senior management, stakeholders, and external auditors.
Risk Management:
Identify and assess financial risks, implementing effective risk mitigation strategies.
Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure adherence to corporate policies.
Safeguard company assets and investments by monitoring financial activities.
Cash Flow Management:
Manage cash flow, liquidity, and working capital to support operational requirements.
Develop and implement cash management strategies to optimize the efficient use of funds.
Monitor banking relationships and negotiate financial terms with financial institutions.
Budgeting and Cost Control:
Collaborate with department heads to develop and monitor annual budgets.
Monitor expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
Provide guidance on cost allocation and expenditure approvals.
Tax and Compliance:
Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including VAT and corporate taxes.
Coordinate with external tax advisors for tax planning, reporting, and compliance.
Oversee all financial regulatory reporting requirements and ensure timely submission.
Team Leadership and Development:
Lead the finance team, providing guidance, coaching, and mentoring.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth within the finance department.
The ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, is crucial for a Financial Controller. This includes providing clear instructions, explaining complex financial matters to non-finance personnel, and facilitating effective team communication.
