Job Summary
We are currently in search of a Power Transformer Specialist to join our esteemed Power Systems Engineering Department (PSED) operating under the High Voltage Equipment Unit (HVEU). The PSED is responsible for delivering highly technical and specialized engineering services that ensure the safe and reliable operation of This Company\'s electrical power system, including generation, transmission, and distribution networks.
The HVEU provides crucial technical support to the company, covering areas such as designs, standards, commissioning, maintenance, operation, and investigations related to power submarine cables, all aimed at ensuring a secure and dependable power supply.
As a Power Transformer Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to provide technical support to the company concerning designs, standards, commissioning, maintenance, operation, and investigations related to power system MV (Medium Voltage), HV (High Voltage), and EHV (Extra High Voltage) Power Transformers. Your expertise will play a pivotal role in guaranteeing a safe and reliable power supply throughout the organization. Responsibilities:
Serve as a subject matter expert in equipment failures and repair techniques during root cause investigations.
Perform continuous reviews of the HV equipment maintenance programs to identify improvements for safe and reliable operation of HV assets.
Support maintenance agency in reviewing spare parts list for existing equipment and provide technical expertise for troubleshooting failures and repairs.
Evaluate if the equipment is designed to meet its intended or existing service conditions.
Provide technical engineering input on repair details and offer onsite technical support, particularly for critical equipment in the process.
Ensure design packages adhere to This Company standards and material specifications.
Represent the organization in industry and professional organizations, users\' groups, and committees related to electrical codes and standards.
Review company standards and stay updated with international standards.
Maximize technical contributions in the department through publication of papers, innovative ideas, filing patents, and presenting in conferences and technical forums.
Requirements:
This role required candidate to permanently relocate at Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
Bachelor\'s degree in Electrical Engineering.
Master\'s degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred).
Recognition and Involvement:
In-depth knowledge, experience, and recognition as a power transformer specialist, including membership in international engineering bodies and contributions at international conferences.
Ability to assimilate and quickly apply newly acquired technical information.
Manufacturing and Standards:
Familiarity with transformers Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) in a leading capacity, demonstrating compliance with manufacturing standards such as IEC.
Participation as a member in the relevant CIGRE (International Council on Large Electric Systems) Working Group.
Active involvement during commissioning as part of projects or as an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).
Experience:
10+ years of power transformer operation and maintenance experience, supported by suitable references primarily related to power transformer design.
Demonstrated distinct experience as a transformer specialist, including contributions in international conferences as a transformer specialist or employment by a leading power transformer manufacturer.
Deep technical insight in transformer construction and design practices covering distribution and transmission type transformers, with expertise in diagnostic testing, condition assessment, and aging characteristics/symptoms related to corrosion.
