Role Overview:
The Geotechnical Field Survey Supervision Engineer will oversee and manage offshore survey activities, ensuring technical accuracy, compliance, and safety. This role requires extensive geotechnical expertise, strong coordination skills, and the ability to deliver high-quality results while working closely with multidisciplinary teams.
What You'll Be Doing:
• Supervise geophysical, geotechnical, topographic, and underground surveys for offshore pipelines and cables.
• Ensure compliance with required specifications, tolerances, safety factors, and client requirements.
• Review and approve contractors' technical submissions, including drawings, method statements, and programs, to ensure alignment with project specifications.
• Prepare and review geotechnical factual and interpretative reports, including assessments of exploratory boreholes, test pits, CPT, SPT, and grading analyses.
• Monitor ground investigation surveys and provide interpretations of geotechnical design parameters.
• Prepare geotechnical desk studies, walkover survey reports, and proposals.
• Check orthographic (2D) drawings for mathematical accuracy and provide direction to the drafting team when necessary.
• Assist in supervising and interpreting ground investigation data and ensuring alignment with geotechnical design principles.
• Collaborate with marine survey, ROV, and diving teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Perform other responsibilities as needed to meet project goals.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology from a reputable university.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, including at least 3 years as a site engineer in a consulting environment.
• Of this, at least 2 years should involve marine works.
• Technical Skills:
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and geotechnical design.
• Knowledge of soil classification, site investigations, in-situ and laboratory testing, foundation design, slope stability analyses, and retaining wall design.
• Basic understanding of related fields, including hydrology, geophysics, hydrogeology, and environmental science.
• Regional Expertise: Knowledge of the GCC region is an advantage.
• Soft Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and coordination skills.
• Other Requirements: Ability to work in challenging offshore environments and deliver under tight timelines.
