:Basic functionCoordinates the Unconventional Hydrocarbon Resources exploration, appraisal, development geology activities and provides specialized assistance and recommendations on the the hydraulic fracturing and stimulation designs. Conducts geological screening, assessment, and ranking of Unconventional Resource plays in shale and tight reservoirs and advises on best exploration, appraisal & development strategies. Provides scope of work for geological studies and the preparation of exploration & appraisal wells proposals.WORK PerformedPlans and supervises exploration geological projects, including quality control of the final products such as geological study reports, geochemical analysis reports, basin analysis reports, well proposals, volumetric assessments, risk assessment, etc.Advises on Unconventional play screening, unconventional resource assessment methods and work flows (including making various geologic maps), determining Hydrocarbons-in-place and recoverable volumes, play risking or common risk segment mapping, ranking, hydraulic fracturing and stimulation designs, play fairway mapping including identification of core and tiers per resource potential.Ensures integrity of subsurface geological data, geochemical data, petrophysical data to generate maps such as structure, thickness and pay, organic richness, thermal maturity, rock physical and mechanical properties maps to calculate in-place-volumes, and tie available production data to calculate recoverable volumes in coordination with team members.Carries out quality control activities of geological studies specifically focused on the update of the unconventional portfolio, the tight and Shale resources play maturation. This includes well log interpretations, well log correlations, preparation of regional reservoir property maps, play maps, prospect maps and other maps, regional play evaluations, prospect ranking and maturation studies, basin analysis and geochemical studies, exploration and appraisal well proposals, etc., all in full cooperation with other disciplines and integrating all petroleum engineering, geological and well data.Assists in the development of strategies for the maturation and development of unconventional HC resources. This includes planning of data gathering activities in the form of wells and seismic and other data, planning of studies and resource requirements such as rigs and manpower.Supervises well log correlations, petrophysical analyses, stratigraphic analyses, petroleum systems analyses, Laboratory analysis and use of geological and geochemical data from cores or cuttings, and reserves estimation.Evaluates geological study projects carried out by contractors and other third parties on behalf of the Company.Prepare proposals and justify data gathering activities such as the acquisition of cores, pressure measurements and wireline logs in exploration or appraisal wells or (in full cooperation with the departments geophysicists) seismic or other geophysical data. To propose the deepening of development wells to explore or appraise the hydrocarbon potential of Unconventional plays.Coach junior geologists and identify their skills gaps and training needs, organize geological and petroleum engineering training courses and other training courses relevant for exploration geoscientists.Support the Entry Point Graduate Development Scheme for new geology graduates, including writing personal development plans, organizing and conducting assessments and reporting to Manager, Capability Management Division on the progress of new staff.Assists, participates, coordinates and advise the VP Subsurface on any ad-hoc tasks and projects such data requests from universities or other third parties, training requests from UAE University, E&P GIS data base, new EXPRIS data base, requests for publication of data, etc.Prepares the annual budgets for projects and studies, IT and manpower and assist in preparing the Exploration Division business plan.Implement the companys health, safety and environmental policy, procedures, regulations and objectives as they relate to the area of responsibility.Initiates and prepares data exchange / trade proposals with companies active in the countries and emirates surrounding Abu Dhabi in close liaison with ADNOC.Coordinates, generate regular management reports such as the weekly, Daily exploration / appraisal well drilling reports; Monthly exploration / appraisal drilling overview, Entry point graduate reports; Yearly staff appraisal reports (including mid-year review); Individual work plans for staff.
