Job Description

A General Practitioner (GP) with a focus on pediatrics primarily provides primary healthcare to children, ranging from newborns to adolescents. Their role involves diagnosing, treating, and managing a wide range of health issues specific to children. Here's a breakdown of their responsibilities:

1. Preventive Care

- Conducting regular health check-ups and growth monitoring.

- Administering immunizations as per the recommended schedule.

- Offering advice on nutrition, exercise, and healthy habits for children.

2. Diagnosis and Treatment

- Diagnosing and managing common childhood illnesses such as colds, fevers, infections, and allergies.

- Treating minor injuries and providing first aid.

- Identifying developmental delays or conditions such as ADHD, autism, or learning disabilities.

3. Health Education

- Guiding parents on infant care, breastfeeding, and safe practices.

- Educating families about managing chronic conditions like asthma, diabetes, or eczema in children.

4. Referral to Specialists

- Referring children with complex or severe conditions to pediatric specialists (e.g., pediatric neurologists, cardiologists, or surgeons).

- Collaborating with pediatricians and other healthcare professionals for comprehensive care.

Monitoring Development

- Tracking milestones in physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.

- Addressing any deviations or concerns early to ensure timely intervention. Mental Health Support

- Identifying and addressing emotional and behavioral issues in children.

- Providing initial counseling and referring to child psychologists or psychiatrists if needed.
