Job Summary:
We are looking for an Experienced General Manager who can Lead, Develop, Train and Monitor our team of Business Development Managers and Sales Coordinators placed locally and internationally. The ideal candidate should have in his past role, held a similar task in structuring the Sales Team across Africa, MENA and GCC markets for any Industrial Chemicals Manufacturer or a Chemical distribution enterprise and well versed with setting KPIs, Commission Structures, Setting and Monitoring Targets, Talent Acquisition and Reporting. Additional knowledge in Sales CRM software and Remote Marketing management is preferable. The Key role of the General Manager is to attain the operational excellence of the Sales Team by gaining market share and build a strong brand across the large markets of our products while maintaining the Top Line for the company.
Key Responsibilities:
Team & Task Management:
• Supervise and lead BDMs and Sales Coordinators placed locally and internationally, ensuring clear communication and effective task execution.
• Assign daily, weekly, and monthly tasks based on business objectives, priorities, and market conditions.
• Track progress and ensure that tasks are completed within deadlines.
• Offer continuous guidance and support to enhance team performance and productivity.
Target & Performance Monitoring:
• Set clear, achievable performance targets for each Sales Coordinator & BDM's and monitor their progress towards meeting them.
• Track sales, business development activities, and market penetration, ensuring that efforts align with company goals.
• Prepare and present regular reports on team performance, sales metrics, and target accomplishments.
• Identify underperformance and implement corrective actions to optimize overall results.
Leadership & Team Development:
• Manage and mentor a high-performing team of Sales Coordinator & BDM's, providing ongoing coaching and training to improve team skills and effectiveness.
• Foster a positive, motivating environment to inspire individual and team success.
• Provide leadership to ensure team members are accountable, engaged, and continuously improving.
Reporting & Coordination:
• Develop and maintain an organized reporting system to track Sales Coordinator & BDM's activities, sales metrics, and performance.
• Ensure regular updates and status reports from all team members are provided in a timely manner.
• Coordinate with senior management to relay performance insights and strategic recommendations.
Administrative & Logistical Support:
• Oversee petty cash management for the team, ensuring all transactions are properly documented and approved.
• Manage travel arrangements, including air ticket bookings and itineraries, for BDMs as needed.
• Ensure strict adherence to company policies and guidelines for expenses and operations.
Essential Skills:
• Strong leadership and people management skills to inspire and drive a high-performing team.
• Excellent client relationship management abilities, with a proven track record of nurturing long-term client partnerships.
• Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office, CRM tools, and performance reporting systems.
• Ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
Qualifications & Experience:
Chemical Engineer/ MBA-Marketing / Master's in international business preferred
• Minimum 5 to 10 years of experience in Team Management and Team Building, Sales Operations, Talent Sourcing in African countries within the Chemicals Trading and Manufacturing Industry (Raw Material / Chemical Distribution).
• Experience as a General Manager in Sales and Administration, overseeing products including Solvents, Chemicals, Lubricants, and Specialty Chemicals.
• Proven experience in managing remote or outstation sales/business development teams.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with a focus on building a collaborative and high-energy team.
• Solid understanding of sales performance tracking, reporting, and strategic goal setting.
Preferred Skills & Competencies:
• Experience with travel and logistical coordination for teams.
• Strong analytical skills to track and evaluate performance data.
• Ability to foster teamwork, ensuring that all team members are held accountable for their goals.
• Strong attention to detail with a problem-solving mindset to address challenges effectively.
