: General Manager Production & Factory (Plant Head)

Position Overview:

The General Manager Production & Factory (Plant Head) is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the chemical plant operations, including production, maintenance, shipping, receiving, and quality control. This leadership role requires a focus on optimizing plant performance to ensure maximum production output, quality, and operational efficiency. The General Manager will lead a team of department managers, ensuring the plant operates smoothly while maintaining a high standard of safety, quality, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Plant Operations Management:

Oversee all plant operations, ensuring production, maintenance, and quality control goals are met. Work with department managers (Production, Maintenance, QC) to ensure smooth plant operations. Promote cost control, operational efficiency, and optimization of plant processes.

Team Leadership & Performance Management:

Manage and develop employees through performance reviews, goal-setting, career development, and succession planning. Lead through teamwork, coaching, and innovation, fostering a positive work culture. Ensure the recruitment, training, and retention of staff.

Quality Control:

Work closely with the QC Manager to maintain product quality, perform tests, and analyze trends. Ensure all products meet quality standards by managing lab analysis and making recommendations to operations.

Safety & Compliance:

Enforce safe work practices across the plant, ensuring a safe working environment. Responsible for plant maintenance, adjusting facilities and equipment as necessary. Report any safety concerns to supervisors and ensure compliance with all safety regulations.

Operational Planning:

Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure cleanliness and efficiency in all plant operations. Monitor ongoing projects, planning required maintenance, and scheduling future projects.

Communication & Reporting:

Communicate regularly with the Director of Operations regarding plant performance, production goals, and operational updates. Collaborate with various departments to resolve issues and ensure smooth operations. Interact with vendors to manage production-related products and services.

Continuous Improvement:

Focus on continuous improvement in all aspects of plant operations. Lead initiatives to optimize plant performance and achieve production goals.

Qualifications & Skills:

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree Engineering or higher in a related field preferred. Minimum 10 years in SME Chemical Manufacturing, with significant experience in operations management. Experience in a manufacturing plant environment with a focus on strategic chemical processes. At least 5 years of management experience in an operating processing plant.

License:

Valid UAE driving license.

Skills & Competencies:

Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead by example. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal. Proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook; ability to learn and adapt to new software. Strong problem-solving, organizational, and multi-tasking abilities. Good business acumen and understanding of the global chemical industry. Excellent people management skills and ability to work as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to manage confined space entry and lift up to 50 lbs. Capable of working in outdoor environments, exposed to cold, heat, wind, rain, and slippery surfaces. Able to work in high noise environments. Ability to perform data entry while seated for extended periods.

Work Environment:

This position is largely self-directed and requires understanding of company policies, procedures, and values. The General Manager must be prepared to respond to developing conditions and crisis situations, ensuring 24-hour operation of the facility.

Additional Responsibilities:

Promote the company's vision, mission, and values. Participate in capital request presentations and support the Director of Operations in plant-related initiatives. Take on other duties as assigned to ensure plant success.
This role plays a critical part in the success of the chemical manufacturing facility and will involve overseeing day-to-day plant operations, ensuring the team meets production and safety goals, and maintaining high standards of quality and operational efficiency.
