The General Manager (GM) is responsible for overseeing the overall operations of the hotel, ensuring its financial success, delivering exceptional guest experiences, maintaining operational efficiency, and upholding the luxury standards of a 5-star property. The GM leads all hotel departments, including operations, sales, marketing, housekeeping, food & beverage, and guest services, ensuring the hotel meets or exceeds performance targets in revenue, guest satisfaction, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Management:
Lead, motivate, and develop a dynamic team to deliver exceptional guest experiences, ensuring all staff members adhere to the hotel's values, policies, and procedures.
Direct and coordinate activities of all hotel departments to ensure seamless operation and high standards across the property.
Foster a positive work environment that emphasizes collaboration, excellence, and a guest-first mentality.
Oversee recruitment, training, and performance management of hotel staff.
Guest Experience & Satisfaction:
Ensure an exceptional and personalized experience for every guest, responding promptly to guest feedback and addressing concerns or complaints in a professional and timely manner.
Maintain high standards of service delivery, ensuring consistent quality and luxury hospitality across all departments.
Drive initiatives to continuously improve guest satisfaction and loyalty.
Financial Management & Budgeting:
Develop and manage the hotel's annual budget, ensuring financial targets are met or exceeded.
Oversee daily revenue management, cost control, and pricing strategies to maximize profitability without compromising guest satisfaction.
Prepare financial reports for ownership and management groups, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions where necessary.
Manage the hotel's P&L (Profit & Loss) statement and monitor all operational costs, including labor, supplies, and maintenance, to ensure financial health.
Operations & Efficiency:
Ensure smooth and efficient day-to-day operations, coordinating between different departments (housekeeping, food & beverage, front office, engineering, and sales).
Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent and efficient operations.
Oversee the implementation of health, safety, and hygiene protocols across the hotel to ensure compliance with local regulations and international standards.
Sales & Marketing Strategy:
Work closely with the sales and marketing team to develop strategies that drive occupancy, increase revenue, and build the hotel's brand reputation.
Monitor market trends, competitor performance, and guest feedback to adjust the hotel's offerings, promotions, and services accordingly.
Develop strong relationships with corporate clients, travel agents, and local businesses to drive group bookings and corporate events.
Quality Assurance & Standards:
Ensure the hotel adheres to 5-star quality standards in every aspect of operations, from room cleanliness and guest services to dining experiences and facilities.
Regularly conduct quality audits and inspections across the hotel to maintain high standards.
Stay up to date with industry trends, luxury hotel best practices, and new technologies to continuously enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
Strategic Planning & Growth:
Contribute to the strategic direction of the hotel, collaborating with ownership and management teams to align on long-term objectives and growth initiatives.
Identify new business opportunities and growth strategies, including new markets and service offerings.
Oversee capital projects, renovations, and property upgrades to enhance the hotel's physical condition and guest experience.
Compliance & Risk Management:
Ensure the hotel complies with all local laws, regulations, and industry standards, including health & safety, labor laws, and environmental guidelines.
Identify and mitigate risks, developing crisis management protocols for various scenarios, including emergencies and operational disruptions.
Community & Stakeholder Engagement:
Represent the hotel in the community, establishing relationships with local businesses, government entities, and influencers to enhance the hotel's reputation and presence.
Participate in local tourism boards, industry associations, and charitable organizations to promote the hotel's values and brand image.
Skills & Qualifications:
Education:
A Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree is a plus.
Experience:
Minimum of 5-8 years in hotel management, with at least 3 years as a General Manager or in an equivalent leadership position within a luxury or 5-star hotel.
Leadership:
Proven experience in leading large teams, fostering a positive work environment, and delivering results.
Financial Acumen:
Strong knowledge of financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and P&L responsibility.
Guest Focus:
A deep understanding of luxury service standards, guest expectations, and creating memorable guest experiences.
Operations Expertise:
Familiarity with hotel management software, systems, and best practices across multiple departments (front desk, F&B, housekeeping, etc.).
Communication:
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Problem Solving:
Strong decision-making skills and the ability to handle high-pressure situations and resolve conflicts.

Ability to work with a diverse team and interact with guests from different cultures.
