Major responsibilities of a Carpenter are:
Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to fully grasp requirements
Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed
Cut, shape and smooth lumber and other material (e.g. fiberglass) according to measurements
Lay out floorings, roofing's or drywalls ensuring they are leveled and compatible
Carve and assemble furniture, cabinets, shelves and other items and install them where designated
Inspect places and conduct repairs or maintenance.
Build scaffolding and other construction structures.
Build closets, counters, shelves, cabinets, doors, bulletin boards, windows, wall panels and other related finish carpentry items.
Dismantle or demolish and remove designated items prior to the commencement of repairs.
Select lumber, materials and supplies.
Work from blueprints, sketches and drawings in addition to verbal and written descriptions to accomplish the job.
Take reasonable care of your own health and safety
Take reasonable care of the safety and health of persons that may be affected by your acts or omissions at work.
Co-operate with your supervisor / manager with respect of any instructions and/or actions taken to protect the employee and or comply with OSH requirements.
Report to your immediate supervisor any situation you believe could present a hazard and which you yourself cannot correct.
Report all OSH / Food Safety Incidents and work-related incidents to your supervisor / HSE Officer / Manager.
Do not intentionally or recklessly interfere with or misuse anything provided at the workplace in the interest of health, safety or welfare.
Participate on Emergency mock drills conducted by the client or NCT&H such as Fire Drill, Internal or external Disaster, natural calamities etc.
Make proper use of all safety devices and PPE provided and ensure they are maintained in proper working order.
Actively participate in consultation and communication of OSH matters
Participate in all OSH training sessions as needed.
Acquaint yourself with emergency procedures of NCT&H and/or Client.
Comply with Company IMS/Food Safety Policies and Procedures
To be medically fit and report any illnesses.
Ensuring that the appropriate correction action is taken to ensure that the services are performed at a consistently high standard in accordance with both the NCTH Standards and the expectations of our customers and clients and with risk as low as reasonably practicable.
Familiarize, understand, Co-operate, and comply with NCT&H OSH policies, procedures with respect to any instructions and/or actions taken by the management to protect the employees and/or comply with OSH requirements which are relevant to your workplace.
