Foreman Rudder & Propeller

JOB DESCRIPTION

Key Accountabilities

Withdrawal of propeller shaft, rudder work, thrusters and slinging.

Mechanical work on shaft coupling bolts and stern tube seals etc.

Assign right number of rudder & propeller fitters for job in a balanced way and according to their experience

Plan tools and equipment and supervise fitters to hook up rigging equipment for heavy lifting.

Liaise with other discipline foremen / supervision to ensure the optimum utilization of available resources, with the overall objective of successful completion of the project.

Assist the senior foreman and supervisors in planning activities.

Perform inspections to ensure that the workers performance is up to the set standards.

Motivate, coach, develop and appraise subordinates.

Create progress reports on a daily basis and ensure that any significant information is communicated to the supervisor i.e. resource shortfalls, surplus, HSEQ concerns.

Follow the day-to-day operations related to own job to ensure continuity of work.

Qualification/Experiences & Skills

3-5 years of relevant experience in shipyard or marine industry as foreman / charge-hand.

Familiar with dismantling and rigging rudder, propeller and shafts of crude oil tankers.
