Job Description

Formant Hatch Operations Responsibilities:GANG OPERATIONS1. Receive the hatch plan and the manifest summary from the Foreman Cargo Vessel and understand and inspect the hatch with help of hatch plan, gear, equipment requirements, discharge order based on type of cargo and crane capacity and ensure that the cargo is placed appropriately as per plan.2. Check marks of the cargo before discharge and inform the Foreman Cargo Vessel completion of operations on a particular hatch or about any additional requirement and completion of operations or any issues and discrepancies.3. Ensure Operations safety prior to movement of cargo thereby ensuring error free and faultless slinging.4. Provide regular instruction to the Forklift Operator on board vessel, and ensure coordination between the FL operator and Winch Operator to facilitate swift operationsQUAY SIDE OPERATIONS1. Receive xe2x80x98Operations work schedule , instructions and details of cargo to be received / discharged and ensure all required resources are available2. Ensure that the cargo being loaded / discharged is correctly recorded by the tally clerk; Coordinate with the warehouse operations foreman to ascertain the order & stacking pattern of storage in the yard based on cargo type & properties3. In the event of deviation from the plan (also includes cargo received with mixed marks or no marks), immediately highlight to the vessel foreman and check what corrective actions can be taken4. In case of any traffic /congestion etc at the quay or in the yard, coordinate with the yard foreman & the Foreman Cargo Vessel to appropriately adjust the speed of loading & discharge5. Inspect the work of reporting personnel (forklift operators, tally clerks & stevedores) and ensure that it is as per standard operating procedures.1. Coordinate with the Foreman Cargo Vessel to ascertain if the gears can be allotted to container terminal before it is actually required for vessel operations2. Ensure the CT allocated gears are returned back to the store; Ensure maintenance of all the gear is done every 6 months by the third party and otherwise carry out regular maintenance activities for breakdown, damaged gears3. Anticipate requirement of new gears based on the volume and usage of the gears in coordination with the Superintendent4. Ascertain the requirement to replace old and worn out gears with new gears; Prepare a purchase requisition to be forwarded to the Labour & Equipment control superintendent.
