Research Laboratory Specialist is responsible to work closely with the laboratory Principle Investigators (PIs) in the College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS) to help assist in research laboratory operations and work in the foundation stages of research and development (R&D) and in scientific analysis and investigation.Strategic ResponsibilitiesThe Flow Cytometry Facility in CMHS at KU is dedicated to facilitate and help research activity by providing investigators and researchers advanced instrumentation and high-level technical and scientific expertise in Flow Cytometry and Cell Sorting with different machines, including the FACS ARIA. We are seeking a Research Laboratory Specialist with advanced experience in Flow Cytometry to integrate an exciting scienstific community at CMHS.As a Flow Cytometry Specialist you will:Instrument Operation and Maintenance:
Operate and maintain flow cytometry instrumentation, ensuring optimal performance and accuracy.
Troubleshoot instrument issues and coordinate with vendors for repairs and maintenance.
Assay Development:
Collaborate with researchers to develop and optimize flow cytometry assays for specific research projects.
Provide technical expertise and guidance on experimental design and data analysis.
User Training and Support:
Train researchers on the proper use of flow cytometry equipment and software.
Offer ongoing support to users, assisting with experimental design, troubleshooting, and data interpretation.
Quality Control and Assurance:
Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reproducibility of experimental results.
Monitor and validate reagent and instrument performance regularly.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
Assist researchers in analyzing flow cytometry data, including gating strategies and statistical analysis.
Generate clear and concise reports summarizing experimental results.
Documentation and Compliance:
Maintain detailed records of all experiments, protocols, and instrument maintenance activities.
Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards and safety protocols.
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with researchers, principal investigators, and other core facilities to foster a multidisciplinary research environment.
Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, presenting findings and updates as needed.
Operational Responsibilities
Provide scientific, technical and logistical support to Research laboratory users.
Develop, design and conduct research lab experiments in line with the overall research plan, review progress and evaluate results with supervision from the Principal Investigator
Formulate research methods and suggest options for improving quality, identify potential problems, and recommend solutions.
Assist in the selection, safe operation and maintenance of equipment used in the laboratories.
Conduct a cost and risk analysis on the design and the equipment to be selected to ensure proper and efficient selection.
Work effectively as part of a laboratory team, including assisting colleagues in skill development as needed.
Maintain databases and experimental records.
Assist with maintenance of equipment and train others on use of equipment.
Assist with laboratory safety and ordering.
Ensure that all aspects of day to day operations comply with HSE policies and procedures and take corrective action in cases on non-compliance.
Conduct analysis of data, and interpret and implement research methodology (with supervision from the Principal Investigators).
Act as liaison with other departments, divisions or organizations.
Monitor an inventory and database of all equipment and supplies and ensure the accuracy of entries and records.
Adhere to the University\'s information security and confidentiality policies and procedures, and report breaches or other security risks accordingly.
Coordinate with other departments to facilitate the accomplishment of tasks and responsibilities, as and when needed.
Perform any other tasks assigned by the Line Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
Master\'s or Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g., Biology, Immunology, Cell Biology).
Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting flow cytometry instruments and associated software.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and quality control procedures.
Required Qualifications
Expats: 5 years of hands-on experience in flow cytometry techniques
UAE Nationals: 1 year of hands-on experience in flow cytometry techniques
