SynopsisThe successful candidate will be responsible in ensuring all Etihad flights are planned and conducted in a safe and economical manner in accordance with GCAA and other regulations, company policy and procedures such as:
Providing flight plans using the TFR (Route Optimizer) function within the Lido flight planning system.
Obtaining a safe and most profitable route taking all weather forecast and overflight permissions into consideration.
Responsible in fully briefing the crew on any aspects that may affect the safety of the flight.
Monitoring each assigned flight and assisting or advising the flight crew where required until the aircraft has reached its destination.
Accountabilities
Risk and Weather Management: Proactively circumnavigate severe weather phenomena such as Typhoons, Hurricanes, Cyclones, Volcanic Ash Clouds etc.
Cost Control: Ensuring that TFR has been considered to reduce operational costs while increasing efficiency. Ensuring maximum benefit is obtained from TFR.
Route Management: Proactively minimize delays by planning flights to arrive on schedule and prevent reactionary delays at outstations. Profile flights vertically and by variance of speed to achieve this.
Slot Management: Minimize Slot delays on sectors from Europe through enhanced use of slot management tools and of optimized flight planning where necessary.
Flight Planning: Computing the amount of fuel required for the safe completion of flight according to aircraft type, distance of flight, maintenance limitations, weather conditions, fuel tinkering policy based on fuel cost and minimum fuel requirements prescribed in the Operations Manual Part A and by the G.C.A.A
M.E.L. Management: Liaising with maintenance for any M.E.L. items, which may affect the performance of the aircraft being planned. Obtaining payload data from the handling agents to produce the operational flight plan.
Analysis: Analyzing and evaluating usability of airports operating hours, fire coverage, landing facilities etc.
Flight Watch: He/she must follow assigned flights from departure till arrival and ensure that all relevant information is transmitted to the crews via datalink including possible reroutes due to weather deterioration enroute.
Training: He / She will have undergone extensive training to have earned a Flight Dispatchers license and participates in frequent and detailed recurrent training courses covering aircraft systems, company operations policy, meteorology, G.C.A.A. regulations to maintain their license as required by G.C.A.A
Safety Management System: The Flight Dispatcher must ensure that all by him/her calculated flight plans are safe and in accordance with GCAA and Etihad regulations. He/she is responsible and accountable for identifying safety risks in accordance with risk assessment process and ensures that adequate risk mitigation steps are appropriately implemented to ascertain safety within the workplace.
Education & Experience
Educated to a minimum of high school certification, ideally degree qualified from a recognized university.
Must speak and write English fluently.
The candidate must hold a valid Flight Dispatch License
The candidate must have a minimum of 5 years airline operations experience, with 3 years spent in a dispatcher\'s position. He/she must have sound knowledge of global flight planning procedures including ETOPS operation.
