Monitors reports from the ships and Ship managers at least once every month to ensure that ships under his charge are effectively using all functions related to voyage abstracts, risk assessment etc and are in line with Technical Department's KPI for overdue jobs.



Reviews voyage abstracts for the ships under his charge once every month to verify that Main Engine RPM/Power output is maintained optimally, M/E is not running in torque rich condition, performance analysis of main and aux engines is carried out once during the month, one auxiliary engine can take at least 75% of the rated load, no abnormal consumption of lubes, water, refrigerants, water or chemicals is logged, that freshwater generator is producing around 80% of its capacity, other auxiliary machinery performing within normal parameters and economizer can cope with the steam demand.



Analyses the budget status of the ships under his charge once a month by logging onto respective Ship Manager's Accounts Portal, or using their reports sent by email to ensure that variation does not exceed 3% in any budgetary category and correct accounting category codes are used.



Monitors the noon reports for the ships under his charge daily to ascertain that ships are maintaining Charter Party speed and consumption, cylinder oil consumption is in line with makers recommendation, second generator is not started without a valid reason and monitor that auxiliary boiler is not fired un-necessarily.



Reviews the Classification & Statutory survey status of ships under his charge at least once in 3 months to prepare for surveys coming due in consultation with commercial department to carry out these surveys in the most economical manner with minimum off hire.



Inspects ships under his charge twice a year to verify that they are maintained well and presents an asset condition report to the Technical Director, Head of Technical.



Appraises Master and Ch Engineer on ships under his charge before they sign off or after his visit to the ship and inserts meaningful remarks for all 4 senior officers on ship under his charge to maintain a performance record of sea going staff.



Performs Pre-Purchase or Due Diligence inspections as and when required for existing or potential clients to assist Traders and Owner with asset acquisition.

To have ongoing dialogues with ships plus the stakeholders mentioned above with c.c. to the Head of Technical/ Tech Director



To approve spares, stores and services for ships under his charge or which are being looked after as a back up superintendent when the designated superintendent is traveling. Such approval will be done after duly establishing the need of the vessel and checking budget compliance. In general, the policy for spare is that dynamic components subjected to fatigue stresses like bearing shells, bearing bolts, valve spindles, pistons, liners, turbocharger rotors etc. are ordered only from makers or from licensed OEM makers. In case spurious spares are to be supplied then superintendent will inform Head of Technical and proceed only after Technical Director has given written confirmation.### Requirements


q Qualifications



Marine Engineering degree that allows him to sail on ships engaged in worldwide trade.



First Class Motor license from an IMO whitelist country.



q Experience

Chief Engineer with five years sailing experience in the rank of Technical Superintendent on ships.



q Key Knowledge Areas

Classification Rules, Flag State Requirements and Ship repair infrastructure available at various locations.





q Skills & Competencies



Good command over written and spoken English



Ability to provide Leadership and issue, clear and concise instructions.



Ability to produce professional reports



To be computer literate and able to use standard software packages containing spread sheets, word processors and presentations ( MS Ecel, MS word and MS power point). Exposure to ERP and computerized PMS used in the Marine Industry.



Capable of interacting professionally and courteously at all levels internally in GMS office, externally with various stakeholders and ship staff.



Able to analyze a situation, as it develops and report it to senior management.
